Representative Programs:
Pentagon IT & Communications Infrastructure Renovation: General Dynamics IT led the multi-year modernization of the Pentagon’s IT and communications infrastructure. The Basement-Consolidated Server Room (B-CSR) is the first Pentagon data center to provide enterprise management services and remote server configuration capabilities. Through advanced network switching and systems virtualization, the B-CSR migrated data from 26,500 legacy servers to 3,200 blade servers and freed up more than 40,000 square feet of space allocated to legacy server rooms for Pentagon tenant agencies.
U.S. Army Reserve (USAR) Enterprise Data Center: General Dynamics IT built and currently operates the USAR’s enterprise data center, supporting 50,000 users at more than 900 locations nationwide. With the migration from General Dynamics’ Peachtree City, GA facility to Fort Bragg, NC, the data center has consolidated and virtualized more than 1,800 servers from 137 USAR sites. The ITIL-based facility provides enterprise IT services, such as: active director, email, application hosting and management capabilities.
