CREDENTIAL SPECIALIST FOR BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS PROGRAM

Our work depends on a motivated CREDENTIAL SPECIALIST joining our Personnel Vetting and Security team to support a large federal background investigations (BI) program located in Falls Church, VA.

As a CREDENTIAL SPECIALIST, you will support a large national BI program that provides investigative products and services to departments and agencies of the federal government. Focused on our Nation’s security, Background Investigators are required to determine an individual’s suitability for employment with the federal government, eligibility for access to classified information, assignment to or retention in positions with sensitive duties, or other designated duties requiring such investigations. The investigations often involve personal and intimate details of an individual’s life and must be processed and conducted with tact and discretion. Information collected by the investigator as part of the BI is protected under the Privacy Act of 1974. In this role, a typical day will include:
Responsible for credential management to include maintaining accurate and up-to-date information regarding the issuance, transfer, sharing, and returning of Customer issued credentials.
Ability to be responsive to our Customers, GDIT leadership, and other stakeholders to provide frequent updates on credentialing status.
Ensure all requirements are met by both full time and contract investigators prior to requesting client approval (credential and non-credential approvals)
Responsible for a key customer deliverable focused on initiating and tracking government property (investigative credentials) and for security clearance and training compliance reporting.
Coordinate with GDIT Program Training Manager and assist with the input of training certificates into case management system and filing of forms and certificates.
Ability to safeguard PII and other sensitive materials or information in adherence to both Customer and GDIT policy and guidelines.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
5 years of combined personnel security and/or investigative experience at the state or federal level with a Bachelor’s degree; or 7 years of combined personnel security and/or investigative experience at the state or federal level with an Associate’s Degree (Preferred)
Active Secret clearance (Required)
Above average computer skills and Microsoft Office proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook (Required)
Experience with communicating directly with BI stakeholders (Preferred)
Knowledge of BI credentialing management (Preferred)
Detail oriented with above average organizational skills
Plans and prioritizes to meet deadlines
Excellent customer service skills; communicates clearly and effectively
Some telework allowed, but must live within commuting distance to the Falls Church, VA office (Required)
