Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Technician, Southwest Asia

GDIT has an exciting position open for an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Technician supporting the (Regional Support Center) RSC in Kuwait. The selected individual will work at the front end working close with the customer to provide sustainment efforts to the warfighter. This position requires an individual who is self-motivated, suitably experienced, trained, and able to follow instructions clearly and able to make command decisions on the spot in order to achieve the aims of the mission and the organization. Must be willing to travel and have an active U.S. Government issued secret clearance.


This position is in support of US Army Central Command (ARCENT) active duty components requisition replacement Class II and IX UPS stock through organic and commercial sources of supply. Some of the related experiences you need to perform this job are as follows:

  • Experience installing mechanical and electronic components.
  • Experience installing and repairing fiber-optic, CAT-5e, BNC, USB, and multi-pin connectors and cables.
  • Provide recommendations to management on improved equipment reliability.
  • Prepare periodical and special reports.
  • Present progress, and performance metrics information for briefings and other presentations.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
  • Networking interface knowledge and skilled in troubleshooting network malfunctions.
  • Experienced in software and hardware updates
  • Perform troubleshooting, fault isolation and repair or replacement of defective components.
  • Perform operations checks on systems prior to moving systems from each site to ensure 100% functionality for the next installation
  • Perform inspections of installed equipment to verify accountability assets
  • Provide Technical representation at meetings and consultations with clients or their representatives
  • Work in conjunction with the unit commander on the ground to ensure all the unit's requirements are met
  • Individual will be the on-site point liaison for the customer
  • Interact with all levels of the organization in a professional, diplomatic, and tactful way
  • Multi-task efficiently and work in a fast pace environment
  • Creates trouble tickets and requests parts through a proprietary database
  • Contacts and coordinates with internal departments for parts
  • Travel to multiple locations within Southwest Asia as required


The Ideal Candidate must have:

  • Must have an active U.S. Government SECRET clearance
  • Must have a current U.S. Passport with at least 2 years remaining before expiration date plus more than 4 empty pages for stamps/visa’s
  • BA/BS degree or AA/AS Degree and 4 years’ experience, or High School Diploma and 6 years of experience
  • Experience in electronics troubleshooting and component level repair
  • Valid driver's license
  • IT Networking experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to meet internal paperwork requirements

Desirable Skills/Qualifications

  • Knowledge of electronic test equipment used for troubleshooting, diagnostics and testing
  • Experience working in hostile and austere environments
  • Experience in stock control and asset management
  • Excellent customer presence as well as verbal and written communication skills, writing system documentation documents, and communications involving system installation and operation
