Sr. Network Engineer/F5

Subject Mater Expert in the installation and support of Cisco Switches, Routers, F5 and Cisco Firewalls

Duties

  • Include monitoring, installation, modification, testing and servicing of network equipment across the Enterprise. 
  • Provides management support to 5 Network engineers. 
  • The Senior Network Engineer requires expert knowledge and ability to apply guidance and advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts in support of FERC installed network architecture.
  • The Sr. Network Engineer is considered Subject Matter Expert for all network devices and have the responsibilities to provide management and installation support to Network equipment to include Cisco 9K, Cisco 7K, 3850, 3750, ASA 55K Firewalls, F5 Big IP systems, IDS systems
  • Responsible for entire projects or processes spanning multiple technical areas.
  • Develop solutions to complex technical issues and problems that impact multiple areas or disciplines.
  • Regularly employs ingenuity and creativity to develop new technical solutions and systems in order to achieve functional objectives. Provide expert analysis and advice on the feasibility of system designs
  • Perform detailed engineering to optimize enterprise network topologies and develop engineering design documentation to produce, install, test, integrate, and support a complete functional enterprise or processing system or subsystem
  • Provide technical support and quality control checks to ensure information systems designs and specifications meet the necessary standards

Required Skills:

CISCO Router, Firewall, Switch maintenance and configuration support Solid Network Design and Implementation, F5 Big IP maintenance and Support

Desired Skills 10+ Years of solid diverse Network support to enterprise networks. F5 Big IP maintenance and Support.

  • Expert knowledge of configuring and troubleshooting EIGRP BGP and OSPF routing protocols and multicast
  • Expert knowledge of configuring and troubleshooting spanning-tree, port-security, port-channels, and multicast
  • Expert knowledge of Cisco IOS and IOS-XE
  • Knowledgeable of MPLS
  • Knowledge of Software Defined networking
  • Knowledge of ACI-SDN fabric
  • Must have solid working knowledge of network security measures
  • Experience with network management and analysis tools
  • Experience in technical analysis of IT alternatives in support of strategic modernization efforts
  • 5+ years related technical experience in Network and Transport technologies, tools, and techniques
  • 8+ years’ experience with large-scale enterprise networks in a high paced diverse environment
  • 8+ years demonstrated experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale multiple virtual platform capabilities
  • Experience with VPN and VPN client.
  • Experience with Network analysis tools (CISCO Network Analysis Modules, Solar Winds Network Management,  etc.)
  • Experience with CISCO firewall/VPN equipment (Adaptive Security Appliance, etc)
  • Experience with supporting IP services (IPv4, VPN, IPv6, Multicast, QOS, SDN, SNMP, VOIP, VTC, etc)

Certifications: 

  • Must have current CISCO CCNP Certification at a minimum

Education

  • BS degree and 10 -12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 8 - 10 years of prior relevant experience.

Work Schedule Generally

  • M-F, 8 Hour Shift, 40 Hours per week Flexible work schedules are available
  • Telecommuting not approved by FERC.  
  • Must Be able to support emergency off Hours Support Critical Maintenance Window (Scheduled) 1000pm to 600am,  Critical Maintenance Window (Emergency) 24 x 7, M- S
