Our work depends on an Advanced System Administrator joining our team to support the Defense Health Agency (DHA) activities at their headquarters office in Falls Church, VA.

At GDIT, we foster a people-centric environment. As an Advanced System Administrator supporting the DHA EITSI Program you will be trusted to manage, maintain and keep secure Active Directory and the hosted systems and solutions hosted within CLASSIFIED (i.e. SIPR) networks. In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Collaborating with the DHA to provide innovative technical approaches and resilient IT solutions for managing Active Directory and other hosted systems and infrastructure.
  • Installs, upgrades, maintains and administers infrastructure software and hardware such as Windows Server, VMWare tools, Windows 10 OS, desktop software (e.g. web-browsers, Adobe Acrobat, etc.).
  • Integrates vendor systems, third party application servers and system software and hardware within a Windows Server environment.
  • Provides patch management by reviewing, analyzing, testing, and implementing Vendor's proposed changes, upgrades and patches; performs firmware upgrades.
  • Patches Windows Servers, Windows Operating Systems (OS), Microsoft applications, and images Windows OS workstations using Microsoft SCCM and WSUS.
  • Provides Active Directory (AD) infrastructure server and Group Policy (GPO) administration.
  • Assists with platform upgrade activities for VMWare vSphere, and ESXi.
  • Coordinates system hardware and software testing with development teams to ensure transparent implementation and appropriate capacity.
  • Investigates and proposes solutions for development and customer needs to improve reliability, continuity, and maintainability for Windows systems hardware and software.
  • Monitors and ensures that backup data and resilience methods are scheduled and functioning appropriately.
  • Resolves and documents resolution for incidents; partners across DHHQ teams to ensure continued availability.
  • Reviews the Forward Schedule of Change to ensure that capacity planning for Windows Systems software and hardware needs are available and that systems and applications will not be impacted through implementation.
  • Provides day-to-day Tier 3 support and troubleshooting for assigned systems.
  • Provisions and loads PKI certificates on servers.
  • Accurately logs tickets d tracks/owns assigned incidents.
  • Provides accurate, timely, and professional resolution on all supported issues.
  • Delivers a high level of professionalism and customer service.
  • Brings subject matter expertise in the virtualization operations area.
  • Provides updates to management and project leadership of all ongoing critical issues.
  • Your success will be measured through your contributions to maintaining performant systems and positive team/customer outcomes

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • BS Degree in Computer Science or related field with 8+ years of Technical IT experience; (or MS with 6 years, PhD with 5+ years, HS diploma with 12+ years of experience in lieu of BS degree), to include the following:
    • 4+ years’ system administration (SA) or engineering experience
    • Windows Server (2019, 2016, or 2012r2)
    • Active Directory infrastructure (deployment/upgrades)
    • Group Policy administration/Windows security
  • Have or obtain requisite DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g. Security + CE) within 60 days of beginning position.
  • Work on-site due to classified system requirements.
  • Government contract requires person possess proof of U.S. citizenship.
  • Active DoD Secret (or equivalent) clearance

  • Window Operating System (Windows 10)
  • VMWare Server Virtualization
  • Storage Area Networks
  • Network Communication processes
  • Patch management using multiple tools (SCCM, WSUS, etc.).
  • Proficient with DoD security assessment/hardening tools (STIG, SCAP, checklists, Nessus, etc.)
  • Knowledge of batch scripting in PowerShell, VBScript, etc.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to coordinate and lead multiple projects at one time
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current industry standard systems architectures
  • Strong critical thinking skills that facilitate expedient problem-solving
