GDIT is seeking a Packaging/Transportation Specialist in our shipping/receiving team. This team is responsible for all receiving activities including: signing receipt/delivery confirmations inventorying incoming package shipments IAW the shipping document(s) and where applicable, verifying asset serial numbers, coordinating with Production Control and the Procurement team for all expected incoming deliveries, notifies Production Control of the shipment's arrival and coordinates movement of items/equipment to the appropriate storage locations.
The team receives, inventories and signs for incoming shipments delivered via commercial entities such as FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc., and government entities using the Catalog Ordering Logistic Tracking System (COLTS)
Upon receipt of a shipment, the Packaging/Transportation Specialist conducts the following processes:
Collaborate with program leadership for delivery schedules
Download packages from incoming vehicles
Receive the incoming shipment in the receiving area
Inventory the incoming shipment
Inspect packages for damage and identify any issues
Verify inventory according to order and invoices and sign for the shipment
Notify Production Control of received shipment and if there are any issues
Identify the destination of incoming equipment by reviewing the shipping documents, Property Book Items List, or directions provided by Production Control
Receive the shipment in COLTS
Re-locate items/equipment to the appropriate staging zone, along with a copy of the shipping document(s)
Maintain accurate records and assist in inventory control
Applicable logistics and/or transportation experience related to military or Government contract work
Ability to work under limited supervision with strong interpersonal skills
Must be able to multi task, prioritize work, and be adaptive to change
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license
Familiar with OSHA Health & Safety standards and regulations
Experience with Microsoft office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Must be fork lift certified or able to pass a certification test for the operation of a forklift
Experience with material control or freight management database systems
Able to operate manual material handling equipment, pallet jack, push carts, etc.
Must be able to withstand physical demands of a warehouse environment: seasonal hot/cold temperatures, bending, squatting, lifting/carrying up to 40 pounds, and standing for long periods of time
Associate Level H.S. Diploma and 6+years of experience, AA/AS + 4 years' experience
Journeyman Level - H.S. Diploma and 9+years of experience, AA/AS + 7 years' experience
Senior Level - H.S. Diploma and 22+years of experience, AA/AS + 20 years' experience, BA/BS + 18 years' experience, or a MA/MS + 16 years' experience
Experience with the COLTS or Global Combat Support System Army (GCSS-Army)
Knowledge of RAID Tower system hardware and components
Import/Export (EXIM) compliance experience
Experience configuring military 463L pallets for MILAIR shipments, aircraft load team member
HAZMAT Dangerous Goods IATA and DOT certification
Flight line and air cargo loading and palletization experience
Familiarity with DOD logistic practices and forms, DD250, DD1348, DD1149, etc.
