Job Description

GDIT is seeking a Windows System Administrator (Shift) to support 24/7/365 operations in Wiesbaden, Germany supporting U.S. Army Europe as a member of our EMITS Program Team.

This position is part of a shift work schedule which includes coverage on nights, weekends, and holidays.

 

The Systems Administrator will be responsible for maintaining an enterprise Microsoft Windows environment, including sustaining Active Directory, Exchange, Windows Certificate Authority, DNS, and other applications. The Systems Administrator will also be tasked with the scheduling and conducting of weekly, monthly or quarterly preventative maintenance checks and services (PMCS).  The Administrator will provide status and reporting while working with Tier III engineers.  Qualified candidates must demonstrate an advanced understanding of various technologies and applications consistent with a virtualized Windows server environment.

 

Additional Duties

  • Provide routine technical support in the management of software, hardware, and application configurations.

  • Troubleshoots system hardware and software issues

  • Performs basic software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages

  • Performs DoD STIG’s to servers, services, and applications

  • Monitors and tunes systems to achieve optimum performance levels

  • Ensures workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutions

  • Ensure data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups and database archive operations

  • Conducts basic hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines

  • Ensures that performance and security of computers meet the needs of network users

  • May evaluate existing systems and assist with planning long-term strategies

  • Documentation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTP)

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Active Secret Level Security Clearance

  • BA/BS or equivalent

  • 2+ years of experience

  • Must be able to obtain a German TESA

  • Successful candidates should also have a fundamental knowledge of networking fundamentals and basic Linux administration.

  • Experience managing systems in a virtual environment is a must.
