The Department of Defense (DoD) High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP) mission is to provide DoDs scientists and engineers with the resources necessary to solve the most demanding problems through the strategic application of HPC, networking, and computational expertise.  To accomplish this mission, the program established HPC Centers to operate the DoD Supercomputing Resource Centers (DSRCs) with associated Local Area Networks (LANs)/Wide Area Networks (WANs), develop HPC software applications and support environments, and provide assistance to end users.  The fundamental mission of HPC Centers then is to: operate the DSRCs, deliver HPC capabilities, and help users.

Navy DSRC maintains and provides premiere HPC capability with primary emphases on support of the largest, most computationally intensive HPC applications and delivery of time-critical HPC services to directly support DoD operations worldwide. Navy DSRC is the executive agent for the enterprise data archiving capabilities consistent across the five DSRCs. Navy DSRC also provides operational and administrative support for select enterprise and HPC class machines for other customers.
