The Network Engineer Senior analyzes existing networks and equipment and identifies opportunities for improvement.

Designs, develops, implements, operates, maintains, and enhances telecommunication networks, systems and associated equipment in support of telecommunications end users, telecommunications operations personnel, and telecommunications strategic program management. Develops solutions that meet business requirements and supports telecommunications infrastructure using technology, and telecommunications engineering best practices.  

Has knowledge of and understands Transport Control Protocol / Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), routing protocols, LAN switching, Circuit Emulation Over Internet Protocol (CEoIP), Communications Infrastructure Alarm and Management System (CIAMS), DC Battery and Power, Distribution Timing and Synchronization System, Internet Protocol (IP) / Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS), CCFB, IDF, MDF, or DSX-1 patch panel, Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) based network management systems, Technical Control Procedures IAW DISAC 310-70-1, and Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment.

In addition, Network Engineer Senior typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department.

Working as a Network Engineer Senior typically requires 4 to 7 years of related experience. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.
