The Software Engineer will design, develop, code, test, and debug complex new software products, or make significant enhancements to existing software. The ideal candidate is a hands-on software developer with experience with application development to customer specifications. They must have strong, firsthand technical expertise in a variety of configuration management and software development and the proven ability to fashion robust solutions. They must be at ease working in an Agile environment with little supervision. This person should embody a passion for continuous improvement and innovation.
Analyze, design, develop, test, and modify applications software. Test software development methodology in an agile environment. Maintain documentation to support software development policies, standards, and procedures. Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms. Collaborate cross-functionally with project managers and other engineers. Troubleshoots complex problems and provides customer support for software systems and application issues. Provide recommendations for continuous improvement. Work alongside other engineers on the team to sustain and advance our organization’s capabilities.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software or Computer Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience
2+ years of experience
Experience with Windows application development in Java
Experience with querying languages like SQL
Background or interest in virtual machine and server configuration is a plus
Experience with test-driven development
Familiarity with Scrum/Agile development methodologies
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
We are seeking a software engineer with experience and/or familiarity with the following software/tools: experience in modern programming languages like Java, C#, Python, SQL, etc.
Knowledge of Transportation sector interoperability software development is a plus
This position requires being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by January 18, 2022 or the start date, if after January 18. Individuals who work in or reside in Texas or Montana or work outside of the United States may be excluded from this requirement.
The likely salary range for this position is $70,400 - $105,600, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
