Position Description: As a member of the PMO, the Operations Supervisor will provide operational support to large scale program supporting a federal agency.
The Operations Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the program. The candidate will provide oversight and assistance in a variety of domains; including HR, recruitment, onboarding, travel and labor tracking, budget oversight and other areas as needed. Additionally, the Operations Supervisor will provide direct supervision to identified staff across the program.
Supervise assigned staff across several teams/tasks. Conduct regular check ins with staff and provide coaching and mentorship as needed. Additionally, performs personnel actions including hiring and performance evaluation.
Supports performance reviews for assigned staff and conducts regular check-ins with federal managers in coordination with the Program Manager/Deputy Program Manager to collect feedback and optimize deliverables
Identifies and documents performance issues, prepares performance and process improvement plans, and escalates issues to the Program Manager and Deputy Program Manager
Identifies opportunities for professional development and cross-training employees
Fills in for team supervisors and other staff where appropriate
Assists with the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and workflows as needed in support of individual teams and/or the PMO
Co-leads recruitment for both open and planned positions
Supports onboarding tasks for both open and planned positions
Submits notifications for Staff Selections, Staff Start and Departure dates, etc.
Co-leads the development and maintenance of a new hire orientation program, including the development of training material
General PMO Support:
Fills in for the Program Manager and Deputy Program Manager as needed
Tracks travel and labor expenditures, including additional hours and approvals as required
Contributes to contractual deliverables as appropriate
Suggests areas for program/process improvement as needed
Participates in special projects as needed
The ideal candidate will be based in the DMV area, although there is flexibility in location. Domestic travel may be required and will be reimbursed as per Federal travel regulations.
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, social sciences, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Must have working knowledge of federal contracting
7+ years of related experience with at least 5 years of progressive experience supporting federal programs and managing staff
Project management experience, PMP is a plus
Supervisory and team management experience is a must
Strong technical skills, including business data analysis and reporting, MS Excel, MS Project, and other MS Office applications and financial applications
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience working with immigrant, refugee, and underserved populations is preferred
