GDIT is seeking a Senior Wireless Network Engineer joining our team to support JSP ETM-NG activities at the Pentagon.
A successful candidate will be responsible for the health and maintenance of a large, complex enterprise 802.11 Wireless & Wireless Intrusion Detection System (WIDS) networking infrastructure. This includes providing network administration and operational support to more than 4000 Access Points. The engineer will provide comprehensive network administration, security enhancements and remediation, and troubleshooting of network devices such as routers, switches, load balancers, WIFI, and VoIP. This position requires an understanding of best practices pertaining to network security and may require the development, deployment, and integration of network security services. Successful candidates should be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Additional responsibilities for the position are:
Provides problem and incident resolution, including dealing with software and hardware vendor technical support
Deploy and maintain network hardware, peripherals, services, and settings in accordance with industry standards and project/operational requirements
Performs daily system monitoring; verifies the integrity and availability of networking hardware, services, systems, and key processes; reviews system and application logs
Documents and performs network upgrades and modifications during ASI windows
Provides on-call troubleshooting and issue resolution as required
Develops and maintains installation and configuration procedures
Partner with the information security personnel to assess potential exposure to vulnerabilities, identify mitigation plans, and ensure compliance with enterprise security baselines and standards
Acts as a liaison with other groups to provide information sharing pertaining to the needs of the diverse set of computer users supported by the client as a whole.
Develop scripts and other automation solutions to aid in the completion of migration and integration tasks.
Review problems to understand the root causes of issues and ensure proper fixes are implemented
Provides phone support to users during the time of peak demand as needed.
Inform management in a clear, concise, and timely manner of any customer or technical issues
Be responsive and decisive on adjusting architecture as customer requirements and technology evolves
Coordinate with on-site support personnel while troubleshooting
Use enterprise service management tools to initiate, respond, and track service requests
Create reports and analyze performance metrics
Adhere to change management processes and procedures
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Active Secret clearance
8+ years of related experience
Must have a DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification or higher
One or more of the following active network certifications:
Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA)
Certified Wireless Network Professional (CWNP)
Aruba Certified Mobility Associate (ACMA)
Aruba Certified Mobility Professional (ACMP)
Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA)
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
Juniper Network Certified Internet Associate (JNCIA-Junos)
Juniper Network Certified Internet Specialist (JNCIS-ENT)
Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Work experience considered in lieu of degree.
Possess flexibility to operate in a highly dynamic environment while ensuring a high level of operational effectiveness
Detail oriented with ability to work well in a team environment
Broad understanding of network infrastructure topologies, security policies, firewalls, and the L2/L3 switch and router infrastructure
Extensive experience managing and monitoring the health of Aruba Controllers, Access Points and Management Devices to include Airwave Management Platform (AMP)
In depth knowledge of TCP/IP protocols.
Experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting network systems, switching, and routing protocol standards such as: TCP/IP, MPLS, OSPF, BGP, SDN, and 802.1x.
Experience managing and troubleshooting DNS, DHCP, IPAM, and NTP in a large multi-site environment
Experience using network management and analysis tools such as SNMP probes, network taps, and traffic analyzers
Experience with Network Management & Performance platforms, such as NetScout, IBM NetCool, Solarwinds, NetBrain, Infovista
Experience managing Cisco Prime/Junos Space
Experience building configurations using CLI
Experience with network security, including firewall, IDS/IPS, VPN, and vulnerability remediation
Experience creating & updating network topologies using Visio
Creating and documenting processes and creating work instructions
Experience working as a part of a large team and working directly with customers
Excellent hardware troubleshooting experience.
Excellent verbal skills and ability to communicate effectively with people who have varying degrees of technical expertise
Strong customer service skills
DESIRED SKILLS:
Experience utilizing Remedy ITSM
Experience with LDAP/PKI preferred
