GDIT is seeking a professional, energetic, and reliable Principal Solutions Architect to join the ARMA Team, serving the Air Force Special Operations Command Special Tactics and Special Warfare communities. Under minimal supervision, the individual will be the Lead Architect responsible for guiding team development efforts towards the successful delivery of scalable, elastic, highly available, secure, and fault-tolerant architectures by aiding in the evaluation of cloud application requirements, making architectural recommendations regarding implementation, deployment, and provisioning. Assist in the migrations of legacy on-premises services leveraging established and well-accepted design patterns. Identify and implement solutions to support the accreditation of environments to meet compliance requirements.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of either the Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure ecosystem.
  • Strong understanding of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux or Microsoft Windows Server platforms.
  • Strong understanding of cloud APIs and interaction with the cloud service provider via the command line interface.
  • Experience with one or more products from industry technology partners such as DataDog, New Relic, Trend Micro, Sophos, Splunk, evident.io, and others.
  • Experience in automating tasks using scripted languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or Perl.
  • Exposure to automation engines such as Puppet, Ansible, Chef, or Salt with either the Microsoft Windows Operation System or with Linux-based distros.
  • Some degree of experience working with one or more common programming languages such as Python, Ruby, or Java.
  • Experience using issue tracking tools such as Jira, GitHub, Redmine, Bugzilla, Team Foundations, or similar.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMWare, Docker, etc.)
  • Understanding of Agile Software Development and have used either Kanban or scrum-based scheduling.
  • Confidence in configuring and maintaining of a variety of various frameworks and applications such as Node.js, Ruby on Rails, .NET, Apache, Nginx, IIS, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL, or similar.
  • Established history successfully guiding technical, multi-disciplinary teams.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of AFSOC Programs, the duties and responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical leadership to teammates through coaching and mentorship. Maintaining high standards of quality within the team by establishing best practices, policy and guidance.
  • Identify and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team and across the portfolio.
  • Analyze and resolve technical problems across the teams and portfolio.
  • Continually assess opportunities for architecture and process improvement.
  • Research, evaluate, incorporate, and train teammates on emerging technologies.
  • Provide technical support to Growth and Business Development Teams as needed. Including ability to meet with potential customers on a variety of domains.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize commitments, and manage time effectively for subordinate personnel.
  • Exhibit mission-focused and positive attitude with customers, peers, and subordinates.

Certification Requirements:

  • DoD 8570 compliant for IAT Level II or greater
  • AWS Professional Certification (e.g., Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, etc.)

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive IT Systems Engineering and/or Software Engineering/Development including 5+ years demonstrable cloud experience (e.g., AWS, MS Azure, etc.)
  • Must have a Secret Clearance to begin work and the ability to obtain a Top-Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Development, or related discipline technical discipline.
