Designs, plans and builds communications networks. Configures routers and switches, and firewalls for LAN and WAN systems and VPN concentrators with appropriate network engineering and communications protocols. Coordinates LAN/WAN hardware/software improvements and/or enhancements. Monitors the network utilizing industry leading technologies. Provides innovative methods and technical solutions using the engineering design process. Plans implementation of enhancements.

  • Provide analysis, design documentation, and assist in implementation of IP transport systems for evaluation by senior leaders.

  • Conduct reviews of emerging technology and determine suitability for requirements in the realm of Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN), Software Defined Networks (SDN) and integration with other transport networks.

  • Possess a broad knowledge of various computer networking vendors and products, such as Cisco, F5, Aruba, Citrix, Palo Alto Networks, etc. Ability to independently research these products to determine suitability for use within a target customer space.

  • Coordinate and cooperate with other teams to achieve shared goals, specifically around implementing new computer networking technologies and fielding them for production use.

  • Write cohesive and comprehensive information summaries and briefs describing new and emerging technologies in the computer networking field, for dissemination and consumption by both peers and leaders.

  • Develop training plans and create knowledge transfer documentation for newly fielded computer networking technologies.

  • Attend technology conferences and interface with vendors and peers to identify new computer networking solutions, hardware, and technology. Gather and consolidate information on these new solutions and products, and author well-written documentation to disseminate the information to peers and leaders.

  • Experience with Satellite Communications (SATCOM) and/or Wireless\Radio Frequency systems desired but not required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS in Computer Networking, Computer Science, or a related technology field. Experience may be substituted for education.

  • Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility (must never have bee denied and SCI), based on a T5 or T5R investigation.

  • 5 years of experience in computer networking and/or computer communications technology fields.

  • Excellent written communication skills primarily centered around creating information summaries and white papers.

  • Candidate will be required to acquire DoD Instruction 8570 Level II Certification within 6 months of assignment

  • Networking certifications desired but not required. Ex: CCAr, CCIE, CCNP, CCNA, Net+, etc
