Job Description

Data Engineer

Our work depends on a Data Engineer joining our team in supporting defense analytical requirements with enhanced scientific/engineering research, capability/limitation analysis, reverse engineer analysis/characterizations, facility, and vulnerability assessments.

HOW A DATA ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Analysis and production include, but is not limited to:

- complex foreign electronic systems, subsystems, facilities and/or equipment and can emphasize one or more area(s) pertaining to power, microelectronics, electronic hardware, circuits, sensors, guidance and control, signals, electromagnetic, electro-optical (EO)/infrared (IR) and/or similar areas associated with current and projected electronic systems and/or subsystems, and,

     - includes, but not limited to, electrical engineering and sub-disciplines of computer, electronic, optical, and power engineering.

  • Designing, implementing, and operating data management systems for intelligence needs.
  • Designing data storage, access, use, integration, and management for different data regimes and digital systems.
  • Working with data users to determine, create, and populate optimal data architectures, structures, and systems.
  • Planning, designing, and optimizing data throughput and query performance.
  • Participating in the selection of backend database technologies (e.g. SQL, NoSQL, Graph Database, etc.)
  • Working as a member of a team assigned to design and implement data collection, integration, and transformation solutions.
  • Proposing design solutions and recommend best practices for large-scale data analysis.
  • Transforming a variety of input data structures into a unified data structure that aligns with the established ontology.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • TS/SCI, polygraph eligibility
  • Master’s degree and 12+ years’ relevant experience OR Bachelor’s with 14 years’ relevant experience
  • 2+ years’ experience in an official member agency of the Intelligence Community 
  • Familiarity with and experience applying Intelligence Community Directives pertaining to disseminating all source intelligence analysis
  • Hands-on experience in ETL, Data warehouse, Data Marts, Visualization and/or building data pipelines, modeling and designing schema for data lakes or for data platforms.
  • Experience with Agile implementation methodologies
  • Experience using common CI/CD tools
  • Experience working with databases in both the extract and load aspects of the ETL process
  • Strong programming and scripting skills experience and expertise in two or more of the following:  XML/XSLT, Python, Perl, Shell Scala, C
  • Proficient in big data/distributed computing frameworks
  • Practice working with, processing, and managing large data sets
  • Location: On Customer Site
