Our work depends on a Senior Network Engineer to support our government client activities in Annapolis Junction, MD. As a Senior Network Engineer you will be responsible for design, documentation, implementation and management of network transport services for a hybrid cloud capability. 

You will manage firewalls, routing tables, VLAN configurations and other typical System Engineering tasks to enable highly available and secure communications between on premise data center capabilities and cloud services.

You will provide technical leadership in the planning, investigation, design, and implementation of physical and logical communications solutions having network-wide impact. You will prepare complex work prints and schematics to define and illustrate entire network structures and solutions.

You will Evaluate projected corporate network usage and provides and implements media solutions.

Identify product modifications and influences vendors to incorporate these changes into their products.

You will plan, design, and implement network managements systems to monitor, diagnose, control, and measure performance of multiple communication networks. You will identify, analyze, and recommend new network administrative systems for entire networks to ensure accurate network inventory and timely implementation. You will be part of a highly collaborative environment across multiple data center services including working with physical connectivity and server SMEs to optimize performance and availability.

You will deploy or refresh network infrastructure at data center locations, in accordance with best practices and vendor recommendations

  • Configure, install, test and maintain network infrastructure
  • Evaluate the existing systems and provide the technical direction to IT support staff
  • Plan and implement systems automation as required for better efficiency
  • Formulate and design the security system in place to maintain data safety
  • Oversee the constant availability of technical resources
  • Maintain and supervise the inventory
  • Physical installation of network infrastructure
  • Timely reporting and engagement with vendors on glitches, bugs, or unexpected behaviors
  • On-call rotation, roughly one week of on-call every 3 months to provide rapid response to unexpected issues

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field Plus 5 years of Systems/Network Engineering experience to include knowledge of Cloud Services; OR equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Active TS/SCI with polygraph
  • Networking experience (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VOIP, SSL, VPN, network technology, firewall, load balancers, web proxy)
  • Fundamental knowledge of information technology principles, methods, and techniques as well as knowledge of the associated hardware, software and equipment
  • Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, growth-focused environment
  • Ability to motivate teams to perform exceptionally over long stretches of time and in challenging situations
  • CCNS, CompTIA Security+ or similar for IAT Level II DoD 8570 certification

Desired Skills or Experience:

  • Experience in cloud service delivery network models
  • Experience in DoD Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide (CC-SRG) and SCCA Architectures including Cloud Access Point (CAP) architectures
  • Experience with MS Office 365 design, deployment and migration
  • Experience with managed service delivery models
  • Experience with hybrid and cloud service delivery models

CWIP - IAT level II Compliance:

Persons provide network environment (NE) and advance level compute environment (CE) support. Responsible for finding and fixing unprotected vulnerabilities and ensuring that remote access points are well secured. Focuses on threats and vulnerabilities and improving the security of systems. Demonstrates a mastery of the functions of the IAT Level I position. Monitors, tests and troubleshoots hardware and software IA problems pertaining to the network environment. Recommends and schedules IA related repairs to include performing IA related customer support functions such as installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance, in response to customer requirements for the network environment (NE). Analyzes patterns of non-compliance and identifies vulnerabilities resulting from a departure from the implementation plan or that were not apparent during testing. Provides leadership and direction to IA operations personnel. Implement applicable patches including IAVAs, and IAVBs for their environment.  (Reference: Policy 6-34) for Cyber Workforce Improvement Plan (CWIP).
