Research Scientist Expert to provide overall project direction, leadership for complex study design, and statistical analyses with large, complex health research datasets. In this position, you will have the opportunity to directly impact the lives of millions of Americans by working on projects that increase access to care, improve health outcomes and control costs.  The ideal candidate will be someone who can provide complex research/data programs, apply complex research methods and analytic techniques, think strategically but operate tactically, and strategize for new business growth. 


Initiating and executing scientific research and/or development studies, providing overall project direction and technical leadership. Analyzing problems and applying theoretical techniques to develop solutions Working with senior Medicare/Medicaid researchers on mixed-methods projects requiring quantitative and qualitative data collection and/or analysis, including developing study designs, determining analysis methodology, and outlining format and content of client deliverables. Conducting research that applies rigorous and impartial data collection, analysis, and reporting using quantitative and/or qualitative techniques. Working with large administrative data sets within a secure analytic data environment. Interpreting and summarizing quantitative and qualitative findings in reports and presentations to address clients’ research needs. Collaborating with, and/or leading projects with external stakeholders. Working closely with a research team to ensure that project activities are completed in an accurate and timely manner. Helping to develop proposals for new business opportunities. Engaging in continual innovation to improve quality and efficiency of all deliverables.  May include management and supervision of project teams including staff, consultants, subcontractors and collaborators.

• Ph.D. or equivalent in public health, epidemiology, public policy, economics, health services research, social sciences, or other relevant discipline.
• 15+ years of professional experience related work experience in federal contracting and health care research/policy or 10+ years of related Medicare/Medicaid experience

• Possess working knowledge or experience of programs of the agencies of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; including project direction/leadership experience, and experience serving as the primary point of contact with the client regarding project status, presentations, and discussion of technical tasks
• Strong foundation in quantitative and/or qualitative research methods, including experience with advanced statistical modeling, and a broad understanding of health research and health policy issues
• Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work both independently and as part of a team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including manuscript/publication experience
• Advanced programming experience in a statistical software package (SAS, R, Stata, Tableau, other)
