GDIT is seeking a Web Application Developer / IT Specialist to support the Population Health Directorate, Epidemiological Data Center Department, of the Navy and Marine Corps Public Health Center (NMCPHC) in Portsmouth, Virginia. You will serve as a Web Application Developer / IT Specialist to employee, staff and customers of the NMCPHC in support of the department head.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Support the Epidemiological Data Center with collecting, inputting, analyzing, organizing, and troubleshooting data systems daily to meet the needs of the end user and analysts.
Create easily navigable Web pages and basic scripts or evaluate code and repair errors; and build or support Web‐enabled database applications.
Provide programming, systems analysis, and recommendations for future improvements for ongoing data systems
Design, develop, test, and improve applications to meet all data objectives in accordance with current DoD policies required for any DoD data collection systems.
Be responsible for data collection dealing directly with the end user/customer.
Collect new requirements for development to meet customer’s needs.
Monitor and assist in carrying out server maintenance functions.
Work with IT to ensure that Web‐based content is accessible to all users.
Provide Internet services that optimize customer experiences and ensure Internet services comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act and other related requirements.
Create Internet applications that enhance user‐developed content and meet business and technical requirements and deliver e‐commerce and e‐Government products and services to internal and external audiences.
Assist, select and apply the most effective delivery formats.
Provide guidance in determining the most appropriate methods for delivering information via the Internet.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in and/or certification in computer science/web design or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience such as no degree and 4 years additional experience)
2+ years relevant experience in IT environment.
Ability to support web related activities and develop web applications and web portals.
Experience with Interactive Media, Graphic Illustration, Motion Graphics, Web Design, Print Design HTML, Java Script, C#, Microsoft.net 4.5 or higher, and CSS.
Experience with T‐SQL and SQL Server 2008 R2 or higher.
Experience with Windows Server 2008 R2 or higher.
Experience with Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.5 or higher.
CompTIA Security+ certification
Security Clearance Level: Active DoD Secret or the ability to obtain and retain a Secret clearance
US Citizenship Required
Preferred Qualifications:
Expert knowledge of languages and practices needed to develop web pages and to convert user‐developed content into workable Web pages and;
Skilled in Adobe Creative Suite CS6, Visual Studio 2014, and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 or higher.
