This is a position supporting web developers and systems administrators maintaining the U.S. Navy's Collaboration at Sea software system. This is a single position within a small dedicated team providing support to a standardized, web based tool kit that allows war fighters to exchange classified, tactical, and strategic information between U.S. Navy afloat units, Fleet Headquarters, coalition partners, and non-governmental organizations depending on the operation or exercise.
NOTE: This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to work Part-time or work mainly from home. There is a requirement to come into the office once or twice a week and a Secret clearance is required to start.
Perform a full range of technical writing tasks (writing, rewriting, editing, formatting) in support of the CAS program by developing and/or modifying User Guides, Test Plans and Administrative / Configuration Guides in support of module testing and deployment timelines.
Acquires and grows knowledge pertinent to the program's system and associated documentation through communications with subject matter experts (systems administrator, developers, etc.) and points of contact, participating in multiple meetings, teleconferences and email and pursuing pertinent online courses and self-study.
Maintain configuration and version control of all documentation using an established or designated documentation database in a virtual hosting or cloud environment.
Draft, and edit Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), RMF accreditation documents and technical illustrations for the CAS program, and maintain the latest versions of documents within the documentation database.
Participate in gathering, analyzing, and documenting customer requirements for the program and taking meeting minutes of action items and key decisions as needed.
Conducts quality review of materials.
BS degree; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
4+ years of experience in the preparation of Department of Defense documents related to the Procurement/Integrated Logistic Support/instruction manuals/system, specifications, SOPs, Military Standards, software program test plans, configuration guides, administrative guides, and user guides.
Experience in participating in engineering or computer science arena.
Experience using MS Office software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Visio Drawing software and Adobe Acrobat software. Experience using and documenting code in software programs written in various software languages
Possess knowledge of the Government Printing Office Style Manual.
