Our work depends on a Web Designer that is a seasoned Interface Designer with exceptional User Experience chops to join our team to support New York State Department of Heath Medicaid Management Information System activities at Riverview Center in Menands, NY.

As a UI/UX Designer supporting the eMedNY Application Development team, you will be tasked with modernizing our Medicaid platforms by leveraging innovative technologies to build new applications. This high performance organization will work collaboratively to design and develop brand new Medicaid applications to replace or augment legacy applications. Our solutions are based around user-centric design and a responsive first methodology, along with compliance to Section 508 for users with disabilities. Creative technologists looking to expand their skills and build new, innovative products would be a perfect addition to this growing team

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Ability to conceptualize ideas to achieve a modern user experience across an enterprise of web applications
  • User experience designs, page layouts, graphics and prototyping XD, Figma, etc.
  • Developing dynamic user interfaces with HTML and CSS3
  • Testing and documentation for application 508 compliance
  • Collaboration with other web professionals to provide guidance on the implementation of the website
  • Communication skills to convey ideas to customers
  • Working alongside a team to deliver complex applications
  • Provide guidance and leadership to less experienced team members
  • Stay current with the latest design software to foster improvement in knowledge and skills, and to be able to create better design quality

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Graphic Design or a related discipline
  • 8+ years of experience in the field with the passion to learn
  • Interest or background in application design and development
  • Strong CSS skills - specifically Flexbox
  • Strong HTML skills
  • Experience designing and implementing for multiple form factors (Desktop/Tablet/Phone)
  • Strong ability to use design tools such as the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience using a modern JS framework like Angular, React, or Vue
  • Willingness to work individually and in a team setting
  • Good organization and time management skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing assignments and task priorities
  • Good written, verbal and presentation skills.
