Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work with cross-functional team of users and customers to document and strategize for data management, analysis, and storage. Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and coordination for large DBA support teams, including coordination of complex database
  • Design, create, update and maintain a data warehouse
  • Provide technical design for new initiatives and analyze their impact on overall enterprise architecture
  • Define Extract, Transformation and Load data schemes to load data into the data warehouse
  • Define validation techniques to insure database design is populating correctly for data integrity and maintains critical relationships
  • Identify and capture lessons learned, best practices, and information gained during performance of tasks.

Basic Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related scientific or technical discipline with at least 3 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related scientific or technical discipline with at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • 3+ years with defining and using Oracle DDL and PLSQL
  • Experience with various schema techniques including Star
  • Demonstrated skills in working complex database topography and working knowledge in database partitioning
  • Ability to learn and implement new and different techniques
  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to pass a thorough government background screen with fingerprinting is required

  • Understanding of business intelligence development in the IT industry

  • Ability to learn and implement new and different techniques
  • Experience interfacing with business users and understanding their requirements
  • Previous Department of Veterans Affairs experience
  • IBM Rational toolset experience
