Our work depends on Lead Communications Engineer joining our team to support a major Department of Defense (DoD) customer with global operations.  As a Lead Communications Engineer, you are responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the customer’s enterprise network and telecommunications infrastructure.  Your job duties include hardware and software maintenance, system upgrades, infrastructure design and layout, disaster recovery design and implementation, troubleshooting, training, and offering technical support for projects.  You will be working in a rewarding, mission focused environment providing engineering services and technical solutions to users within the Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside CONUS (OCONUS). Your efforts will help transform the enterprise through automation and migration of mission-critical applications to the cloud.  This position requires minimal travel. 

You will join a group within the Defense Division which is responsible for engineering and delivering enterprise IT and infrastructure solutions across the DoD.  You, as a recognized industry expert, will have the opportunity to not only contribute technical and leadership expertise on this program, but to lead teams and engineering disciplines across the business as your career grows.  You will apply industry best practices and make recommendations on automation tools and capabilities to create efficiencies and reduce overall labor costs. Superior communication, leadership skills, and knowledge of engineering functions and responsibilities are required along with the ability to interface with other teams in program execution. 

Leading the engineering team, you will specifically, 

  • Plan, direct, and manage day-to-day activities of the engineering team 
  • Develop telecommunications engineering processes for the planning, integration, test, configuration management, and deployment of enterprise networks and telecommunication infrastructure 
  • Provide technical services to identify, test, and document hardware and software solutions 
  • Perform COTS telecommunications hardware and software market analysis
  • Propose upgrades or new hardware and software items to current programs in Engineering Change Proposals 
  • Create status reports and briefings 
  • Assume responsibility for telecommunications engineering projects and provide input and status to the program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) 
  • Represent the GDIT team in providing solutions to complex technical problems 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Minimum Secret security clearance with ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance. Candidates must maintain the clearance. 
  • 7-10 years of applicable work experience as a telecommunications engineer  
  • BA/BS in engineering or related field 
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently and with teammates and stakeholders 
  • Experience providing telecommunications engineering to DoD organizations in the NIPRNET and SIPRNET environments. 
  • IAT II Certification
  • Location: Hybrid
  • US Citizenship Required


Preferred Skills:

  • Master’s degree in engineering or related field 
  • ITILv3/4 Foundation
  • Current Top Secret [SSBI/T5]

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $106,371 - $177,632, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
