Participates in the design and definition of network architecture and its alignment with the Campus systems architecture.
Serve as a technical team or task lead.
Must have great, customer-focused, team-oriented communications and consultative skills, be highly accountable, be self-directed and productive with strong work ethic, be willing to show "presence" and availability on IM
Works at an enterprise level and in cross-functional teams to assist with the development of strategic and enterprise plans.
Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced systems engineers and may have supervisory responsibility.
Serves as the primary coordinator to troubleshoot transport or transport related issues.
Works with the program Architecture team to coordinate changes, review requirements, and design systems enhancements.
Owns and maintains all applications necessary to run the transport environment (CISCO ISE, Panorama and so on).
Assists in troubleshooting of devices/applications that are connected to the network (sniffer and so on).
Perform assigned complex systems development and design work that may include logic design, manufacturing and development cost projections, network architecture analysis and design, and analog or digital systems engineering.
Performs systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.
Plans upgrades of operating systems.
Develops documentation on new or existing systems.
Develops and conducts tests to ensure systems meet documented user requirements.
Leads installation and configuration of computer network equipment.
Identifies, analyzes, and resolves system problems.
Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.
Determines system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
Serves as liaison with clients, participating in meetings to ensure client needs are met.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
Participates in special projects as required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
- CCNA or equivalent certification required. CCNP or equivalent preferred.
- 8-10 years of related systems engineering experience with Bachelor’s.
- 10-15 years without Bachelor’s
Experience in the following areas:
Designing and implementing MPLS/VPN networks
Designing and implementing VxLAN networks
Designing and implementing Data Centers utilizing Cisco Virtual Switching Systems (VSS), Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), and Virtual Port Channels (vPC) or other vendor equivalents.
Knowledge with Tellabs GPON/Optical LAN Networking
Experience with the following protocols:
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DHS Entry On Duty (EOD)
Must hold an active TS clearance and be able to obtain and maintain SCI
