GDIT is seeking a Senior Database Analyst in support of the Naval Health Research Center (NHRC) Infectious Disease Field Surveillance and Laboratory Research Services. As the Navy hub for the Armed Forces Health Surveillance Center the NHRC Operational Infectious Diseases Directorate conducts on-going, laboratory-based surveillance of US military populations in unique environments to quantify and study the etiology of infectious illnesses. This position will provide support services for operational infectious disease surveillance, accredited clinical laboratory testing, diagnostic evaluations, clinical research support and scientific research services. Specific responsibilities:

  • Support surveillance of operational infectious diseases that affect DoD personnel in coordination with federal agencies, local governments, research organizations, and universities at locations around the world (coordination will be completed by the Government).
  • Provide operational support for diagnostic evaluations, clinical studies, and/or clinical trials supported by NHRC and sponsored by Federal Agencies or private companies
  • Organize and evaluate data sets (both provided by the government and / or also collected by the contractor), develop presentation materials, develop research Standard Operating Procedures for Government approval, present findings at technical and professional meetings (subject to Government approval), and review and submit Government approved research protocols for NHRC IRB approval (subject to Government approval).
  • Assist in measures designed to strengthen local and regional capacity for surveillance of emerging and reemerging diseases
  • BA/BS
  • MS in Statistics or Data Management preferred
  • 5+
  • 2 years experience managing large data sets preferred
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Access and MS SQL
  • Experience providing programming and support of MS SQL Server, Visual Studio Applications, Access Applications and TeleForm operational processes.  Provide support for Linux Edge Box DNA sequencing application and hardware.
  • Experience contributing to the design, perform, and evaluate analysis plans and data management methods for the solution of scientific, management or business problems, with a specific focus on Clinical Data Management activities associated with FDA clinical trials and surveillance activities
  • Provide support for Linux Edge Box DNA sequencing application and hardware.
  • Develop, focus testing and validation of clinical data management and collection tools, establishment of study-specific relational databases, overlay integration with existing laboratory networks and the generation of data libraries for all collected research data.
  • Experience in the development, implementation, execution and reporting of programmatic research studies through the generation of study-specific data management plans, data collection tools, development of relational databases and the development /adaptation of analytical methods commonly used in epidemiological research studies, including surveillance, case-control, prospective and clinical trial studies. Prepares regular reports on surveillance data, study progress, enrollment, adverse events, etc.
  • Responsible for designing and performing analysis utilizing existing datasets including laboratory result data, military healthcare utilization data, pharmaceutical utilization records, vaccination records, and demographic datasets.
  • Experience providing  logical procedures, data flow and management methods, appropriate statistical methods, prepares flowcharts, perform coding.
  • Conduct frequent data validity assessments and integrity checks; generating data status reports; works to resolve identified issues/errors in data.
  • Experience oversee design and use of study databases, supervise database programmers, junior analysts. Assist coworkers with using software, analysis issues, and general resolution of problems.
