The U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) at Fort Detrick, Maryland conducts basic and applied research to develop products, information, procedures, strategies, and training programs, and provides for medical defense against biological threats
and naturally occurring infectious diseases of military significance that require biocontainment.
The Information Management Division purpose is to enable the research vision of USAMRIID with first class computer and communication services. This is accomplished by providing IM/IT management, strategic planning, IM/IT infrastructure, software application development and sustainment, communication, network, information assurance compliance and Help Desk services.
Our team is seeking a System Administrator Lead to provide System Administrator support to provide on-site network server administration for all USAMRIID servers, both physical and virtual. The system administrator shall provide System Administration support for systems to include, but not limited to, Windows Server Operating Systems, Linux Server Operating Systems, VMWare Server environments, Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) Testing & Evaluation mission at USAMRIID and Tivoli Backup and Restore Systems.
Perform server duties to include, but not limited to: install server hardware and
operating system (OS); reinstall/upgrade of OS; maintain servers; Sustain and harden servers to meet Information Assurance requirements, apply OS patches monthly across multiple platforms (NIPR, SRENet, BAS, etc.);
Install and maintain application software on servers create/maintain printer queues;
add/maintain folder/file permissions; troubleshoot file access, server and printer problems; monitor event server logs; monitor McAfee on servers; Sustain VMWare Servers and related virtual technologies at 99.9% availability.
Provide on-call support during non-business hours.
Perform Active Directory (AD) duties to include, but not limited to: create new user
accounts, security groups and server/computer accounts; maintain security groups; troubleshoot user account problems for approximately 1,000 NIPR account and 1,000 SRENet accounts.
Provide local support to resolve DoD Enterprise Email account issues for approximately 1,000 accounts;
Perform Defense Medical Logistics Standard System (DMLSS) server duties to
include, but not limited to: add/remove accounts; run audit tape and system tape monthly.
Utilize HP 3PAR Management Console and applications to sustain USAMRIID’s SAN environment for file and block services. Design, install, and sustain storage area networks.
Utilize HP One View unified management platform to support USAMRIID’s data center infrastructure.
Utilize Computer Associates Unified Management to support USAMRIID’s data center application environment
Provide engineering support for troubleshooting, and problem resolution following connectivity issues, outages, or degradation in the server environment.
Resolve local trouble tickets within the IMD division level 80% before any escalation to tiers III or above.
The Team Lead will act as the communication channel between the government COR/TCOR and contract personnel within their section.
The Team Lead will receive tasks from IMD management and assign these tasks to a member or members of the section.
The Team Lead will provide weekly section status reports to IMD management.
Bachelor's Degree along with 5-8 years of relevant experience
Personnel filling the SA role (task 3.3) will be coded as IT-I. Under AR25-2, ITI coded position will require a SSBI-SF86 investigation & form type for contractors.
