GDIT is looking for an experienced of an Operational Security (OPSEC) specialist in support of a government client and their national security mission. As part of this position you will be located with the customer to help implement and maintain the OPSEC program in order to enhance the customer’s overall security posture across the mission space. The OPSEC program works in concert with the traditional security disciplines, to include personnel security, physical security, information security with the goal of managing risk to operational assets. The ideal candidate will ensure the customer’s OPSEC and risk management taskers and requirements are completed on schedule and in a professional manner.
Manages and implements the customer’s program protection plans, policies and procedures in the areas of OPSEC and other program protection mechanisms to safeguard the customer’s information and activities.
Conducts OPSEC assessments on sites and activities in order to assess and manage risk to the mission space. Recommends and implements OPSEC measures and countermeasures to apply across the mission space. Writes reports and conducts briefings to be presented to the organization’s senior leaders. Develops and implements OPSEC plans. Develops and disseminates OPSEC guidance to the organization and mission partners based on operational needs.
Ensures standard operating procedures and other policies have been established and/or updated periodically to achieve the right level of OPSEC within the organization. Conducts and/or participates in OPSEC working groups in coordination with several OPSEC site coordinators. Maintains the OPSEC Site Coordinator Training Certification program. Ensures maintenance of a Level III OPSEC Program conforming with the requirements set forth in DoD Manual 5205.02-M, DoD Operations Security (OPSEC) Program Manual. Ensures the integration of the OPSEC process into all phases of planning and implementation of customer-related activities.
Applicant must possess an active Top Secret security clearance, based upon a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) or SSBI Periodic Review (SBPR) and be eligible for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)
Requires a bachelors degree in a related area or equivalent experience
Minimum of 10 years of general security experience with U.S. Government security fields to include physical security, personnel security, information security, counterintelligence and OPSEC (5 years must be subject matter expertise and hands-on experience in the OPSEC discipline and experience establishing and implementing security programs and policies.
Previous security experience working in a Government Security Program.
Must have a thorough understanding of, and experience implementing Intelligence Community Directives (ICDs).
Extensive technical writing skills, oral communications skills, and be willing to travel in the continental United States (up to 10% of the calendar year).
