At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Cloud Engineer supporting the government health organization, you will be trusted to perform as part of a team to ensure the effective Modernization Support Services of the customer applications that support customer programs, activities, and resources. In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Manage and implement Cloud Solutions for COTS, GOTS, Oracle Financial system and related applications.

  • Participate in cloud system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning.

  • Create sustainable cloud systems and services through automation and uplifts.

  • Balance feature development speed and reliability with well-defined service level objectives.

  • Provides oversight of the cloud production environment by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health.

  • Develops architecture and  cloud solutions focusing on scalability and extensibility

  • Build software and cloud systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications.

  • Improve reliability, quality, performance for cloud-hosted applications.

  • Measure and optimize system performance, with an eye toward pushing capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating to continually improve services.

  • Provide primary operational support and engineering for multiple large, distributed software applications.

  • Gather and analyze metrics from both operating systems and applications to assist in performance tuning and fault finding.

  • Coordinates with Cloud providers for issues and support requests.

  • Uses exceptional written and verbal communication skills to interact regularly with high-level customers and other industry representatives to ensure conformance to customer requirements.

  • Experience driving discussions with senior government personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, project management and risk mitigation

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with stakeholders and business owners to provide guidance and recommendations on improving IT infrastructure 

  • A proactive approach to identifying issues and problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks along with an ability to offer and implement solutions to address these.

  • Experience working within the federal government or serving federal government clients on Agile-based development contracts

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • U. S. Citizen

  • Ability to secure a Public Trust clearance

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline

  • 6+ years of related engineering experience

  • Expertise in implementing cloud solutions.

  • Strong understanding of Cloud Migration methodologies and best practices. 

  • knowledge of application-specific considerations equivalent to  GOTS, COTS

  • Expertise in cloud service delivery models

  • In-depth Knowledge of various cloud solutions (hybrid, public, private, multi-cloud, on-prem) and related tools

Desired:

  • Oracle Cloud, AWS and Azure experience

  • Certified Solutions Architect Associate certification from one of the major Cloud providers (Oracle, AWS, Azure, Google)

  • Agile Certification

  • ITIL Certification
