General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) Technology Shared Services (TSS) seeks a Splunk Engineer to work on the EPA program and other programs. The selected candidate will have knowledge in applying in-depth sustainment support of enterprise network cyber defense capabilities to prevent sophisticated cyber threats and vulnerabilities, or detection of them when prevention fails. Hands-on experience in designing, installing, and maintaining Splunk in a dispersed manner is a must.

In this role, a typical day will include the responsibilities below:

  • Understanding of complex development, design, modeling, analysis, integration, and sustainment of Splunk systems for new or existing computer systems within an Enterprise.
  • Developing dashboards, data models, reports and performance optimization.
  • Designing and customizing complex search queries and promoting advance searching, forensics, and analytics. - Developing and documenting configuration standards, policies, and procedures for operating, managing and ensuring the security of a Splunk infrastructure.
  • Participating in incident, problem, and change management processes related to Splunk.
  • Providing Splunk O&M and User access.
  • Planning and directing upgrades and system enhancements.
  • Developing and implementing testing strategies and documenting results.
  • Developing documentation on new or existing systems.
  • Providing system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.
  • Serving as liaison with clients, participating in meetings to ensure client needs are met.
  • Providing guidance to less-experienced staff.
  • Communicating with customers and teammates clearly and concisely.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned and may have supervisory responsibilities.
  • Participating in special projects as required.

Required qualifications:

  • BA/BS or equivalent years of experience
  • 2+ years of related engineering experience
  • 2+ years of Splunk experience and certification
  • Security+ CE or other 8570 IAT level II certification

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of AWS and Azure
  • Knowledge of various network vulnerability scanning platforms (Qualys, Nessus, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Routers, Switches, Firewalls, and authorization boundaries
  • Knowledge of current IT security best practices
  • Knowledge of system administration, networking, and operating system hardening techniques
  • Splunk Certifications

The likely salary range for this position is $64,000 - $96,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
