Job Description

Seeking a DevSecOps Technical Leader to join our expanding DevSecOps (DSO) team.  This new role provides critically needed support to the DevSecOps/Middleware team, working as part of the Managed Application, Infrastructure, Networking, Enterprise, and Security Services (MAINES) contract. This person will take responsibility for managing and organizing the multiple high-visibility initiatives that the DevSecOps team is currently tasked with completing, including assigning tasks, creating tiger teams, and reporting status to management and stakeholders. This person will work in unison with several matrixed teams across client and contractor organizations and regularly interfaces with clients, software developers, and software engineers and functions as a primary technical point of contact and must be experienced and comfortable in a client-facing role.  This role frequently functions as a liaison between technical and non-technical stakeholders and is expected to facilitate collaboration and communication between stakeholder groups (e.g., during cloud intake process meetings, translating technical progress/milestones to Deployment Managers (DMs) and application owners).

The ideal candidate for this role possesses a high degree of attention to detail, is comfortable assigning tasks and managing multiple efforts at once, is well organized, and the ability to work both in a self-directed manner, and as part of a team.  The ideal candidate will also have prior practical experience establishing and documenting technical processes.    

General Duties and Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Will function in a task leadership role and will take responsibility for managing and organizing the multiple high-visibility initiatives that the DevSecOps team is currently tasked with completing.
  • Develops proposals and timelines for completion of initiatives.
  • Coach and review the work of less-experienced professionals.
  • Assign tasks and coordinate small teams of engineers to complete initiatives.
  • Provide progress reports to and attend meetings with initiative stakeholders, both contractor and federal.
  • Serves in a client-facing role and regularly interacts with multiple stakeholders.
  • Maintains current knowledge of rapidly changing technology and works with management to evolve current processes.
  • Develops solutions to a variety of highly complex engineering problems of advanced scope and complexity.
  • Oversight of highly complex infrastructure including installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
  • Performs highly complex systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.
  • Prepares and maintains a wide range of documentation for processes and procedures related to engineering projects.
  • Provides guidance to less-experienced Systems Engineers.

Technical Skillset:

  • 4+ years’ experience as a technical project manager / team lead, with familiarity or direct experience with DevOps concepts, including CI/CD tooling and a wide variety of application development technologies.
  • Ability to act as a liaison between Application Owners, Application Developers, and multiple supporting teams, such as Cloud Engineers, Infrastructure Engineers, Security Engineers, etc.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues across multiple applications.
  • Ability to manage, maintain, and enhance existing CI/CD pipelines within GitLab, or experience doing similar tasking in other CI/CD tooling such as Bamboo, GitHub, Jenkins.
  • Experienced in providing DevSecOps implementation using Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
  • Familiarity or direct experience using AWS console, as well as AWS services typically used to facilitate the deployment and use of containerized applications (S3, CloudFront, EKS).
  • Knowledge of containerization concepts including container orchestration, with a preference given to Kubernetes experience
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code concepts and tooling, including Terraform, Ansible, Cloud Formation, etc.

Technology Stack Requirements:

  • CI/CD Tool Experience, GitLab preferred (1-2 years of practical application in an organization)
  • AWS (1-2 years of practical application in an organization)
  • RHEL (5 years of practical application in an organization)

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS (or equivalent experience)
  • 8+ years of relevant Computer Science/Information Technology experience
  • 4+ years of technical leadership
  • Container Orchestration Experience
  • Ability to manage multiple, high-priority projects, tasks, and deadlines and shift focus as necessary
  • Highly proficient problem-solving ability
  • Ability to apply principles of process improvement & best practices in process documentation
  • Ability to independently provide direct support in a client-facing role

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $128,000 - $192,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
