GDIT is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to help support our Joint Service Provider - Engineering and Development for the Enterprise (JSP ED-E) contract in Arlington, VA.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Build Engineer - (Server): Provide technical expertise, requirements development, build and implementation for complex to extremely complex systems in the subject matter area. Work collaboratively with other build engineers, system engineers, security engineers, platform engineers, automation engineers, and software testers providing system engineering services for core applications services, implementation, and modernization of customer applications (e.g., web-based apps, mobile apps) and discoverable enterprise services; the customization, configuration, and integration of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and Government-Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) software products and services; end-to-end managed service capabilities; and professional services (e.g., help desk, network management and operations, program management, leased data circuits and transport, and operating equipment and facilities).
Candidate must demonstrate a high degree of expertise in the areas of active directory, Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, Domain File Services, print services, server backup services, antivirus, server operating systems, monitoring tools, and other specialty IT systems. Expertise in the area of creating, maintaining, auditing, and improving systems to meet particular needs, often as advised by the architect, testing software systems to diagnose and resolve system weaknesses and make recommendations for future developments.
Install new hardware and software making sure that all components (hardware and software) interface correctly with each other and the network – including new servers, backup drives, MS server operating systems, etc. to include base software and applications installed on servers such as antivirus, system monitoring tools, etc.
Design and implement new solutions for IT systems to include Active Directory, Windows based Servers, and COTS applications.
Research technologies and solutions based on customer requirements and provide analysis and recommendations.
Perform tier 3 technical support for developed solutions both individually and as a working group.
Develop technical briefings and reports for written and oral presentations.
Perform long range planning to ensure technology refresh requirements are timely.
Write research documents detailing possible solutions addressing customer requirements to include pros and cons, estimated materials and costs, and high-level work breakdown schedule associated with each solution.
Provide detailed engineering plans for systems design and implementation. Systems may encompass multiple areas of technology such as local and wide area networking, infrastructure, distributed server architecture, operating systems, and applications.
Provide technical leadership for IT projects to implement or update IT infrastructure.
7+ years of experience
BA/BS or equivalent years of experience
Active Secret Clearance
MCSE or other Microsoft engineering level certification
Microsoft Active Directory administration and deployment experience
Microsoft Windows Server engineering and administration (2012, 2016, and 2019)
Experience with ScienceLogic or similar system monitoring tools
IT services disaster recovery planning and administration
Experience researching new technologies and developing options/plans for customers
Experience using enterprise change management processes and procedures
Various Monitoring Tools – Riverbed, Solarwinds, etc.
Develop and coordinate detailed proposals for implementation of new technologies
Excellent communication skills
Experience leading IT projects
Collaborative engineering with other team members
DoD TOP SECRET/SSBI eligible
DevSecOps deployment model - Understanding of Agile methodology. CMMI, ITIL a plus
Understanding of DoD, DISA cybersecurity requirements
