Data Center Operator / System Technician - Night Shift

At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Data Center Operator supporting various health programs, you will be trusted to work on monitoring mainframe and mid-range systems as well as disaster recovery. This role will be in Rensselaer, NY. Training will be during the day for the first 1 months and then move to the night shift, Sunday through Tuesday and every other Wednesday.. Shift differential is offered for night shift positions!

In this role, a typical day will include the responsibilities below:

• Providing monitoring, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting support of information systems, applications, and related peripheral hardware
• Performing all required hourly and daily system checks in accordance with prescribed schedules
• Keeping the task manager informed of any unusual conditions or problems encountered in the performance of daily duties
• Monitoring of systems and networks within the HPCMP Enterprise utilizing Unix/Linux workstations. Windows systems may also be used in various tasks.
• Using a variety of interactive tools and processes to determine the health of systems and networks by performing all required hourly and daily system checks in accordance with prescribed schedules
• Generating trouble tickets for tier 2 and 3 support. May route calls to product line specialists, application, or system support specialists.
• Maintaining and updating record and tracking databases.

Required qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent; AND
• 1 or more years of related Enterprise IT experience
• Willingness and Ability to work any overnight shift (7 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Ability to obtain a Full BI background investigation clearance

Preferred qualifications:

• Past experience using and/or working on ATL (Automated Tape Libraries).
• 2 or more years of related experience with Mainframe applications (ZEEK, ZEBB, SA, CA and/or IBM products) AND
• BS/AS
• Experience working with tape media.
