Our work depends on an Experienced Engineer (Program Advisor) joining our team to support our customer the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). This will include providing support in their efforts to utilize Agile development processes to maintain operations and maintenance, provide new enhancements and added functionality for all Hospital Quality Reporting (HQR) systems, specifically for the Quality Analytics and Reports task area.
In this role, a typical day will include:
Provide guidance in designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining operating systems and operating system software.
Provide guidance for programmers with the installation of enhancements and performing updates to software of existing systems, including middleware and application programs that run on the system.
Advise team troubleshooting of complex problems and provide customer support for software systems and application issues.
Provide guidance to team debugging problems with system software. Provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
Provide guidance to team performing maintenance tasks to keep systems running smoothly.
Provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced programmers.
May serve as a team or task leader. (Not a people manager)
Plan, develop, test, and document highly complex analytic and measure calculation programs.
Generate new code and correct, convert, and/or modify existing code to meet specifications.
Prepare detailed specifications from which code will be written. Confer with end-users to analyze specified methods and procedures, identify problems, and document specific requirements.
Provide input to staff involved in writing and updating technical documentation such as users’ manuals, product specifications, and training materials.
Perform a variety of testing procedures on assigned products, analyzes test results, and corrects problems.
Prepare reports on analyses, findings, and project progress, and presents results to management and/or customer personnel.
Perform research on emerging technologies to determine impact on application execution.
May serve as a technical team or task leader.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
Participates in special projects as required.
Gather and/or clarifying business and technical requirements with data requestors.
Provide technical and analytic input to analytic team.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
BA/BS (or equivalent experience), 8+ years of experience
Advanced knowledge of the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures used in computer programming with a particular focus on SAS.
Experience coordinating and leading project tasks is preferred.
Proficient in the use of SAS and SAS tools such as PC SAS, Mainframe SAS and SAS Viya.
Proficient in the use of SQL and equivalent database query languages.
Professional SAS Certification(s) preferred.
Python experience preferred.
Knowledge of statistics and statistical modelling is a plus.
Related experience in analytic programming, data extraction, querying databases/data warehouses and data analysis.
Experience with Medicare claims preferred.
Programming experience with analysis in the healthcare industry preferred.
Experience working in an Agile environment using collaboration tools (Jira) preferred.
Experience working in a cloud environment (AWS, Hive) preferred.

The likely salary range for this position is $86,250 - $129,374, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
