Summary: Designs, develops, evaluates, plans and tests engineering specifications for software programs and applications
The Chief Engineer is a Software Engineer with hands-on experience in defining and implementing IT requirements in a mission critical operational environment. The Chief Engineer will have broad knowledge of the engineering relationship between the Application Service Provider (ASP) and Infrastructure Service Provider (ISP). The Chief Engineer will have experience implementing ASP segments in a virtualized and/or Cloud environment. The Chief Engineer designs and defines information technology (IT) system architecture for integration of multiple platforms, operating systems, and applications across the enterprise.
Determines systems specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility and maintenance of system security
Coordinates design of subsystems and integration of total system.
Identifies, analyzes, and resolves program support deficiencies.
Develops and documents the framework for integration and implementation for changes to technical standards.
Assists in the development of and manages an architecture governance process.
Develops and recommends corrective actions.
Provides technical guidance for Data Managers, Field Service Representatives and Software Developers
BS or equivalent + 10 years' related experience, or MS + 5 years' related experience
Knowledge of communications, imagery delivery systems, GEOINT cataloging, discovery and retrieval as well as Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Systems is required.
Hands-on experience with geospatial visualization technologies including OpenLayers, Google Earth client and KML development, and ArcMap is desired.
Expertise in geospatial server technology including ArcGIS Server and Oracle Spatial is desired.
Knowledge: Applies advanced technical principles, theories and concepts. Contributes to development of new principles and concepts.
Problem Solving: Works on unusually complex technical problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious
Impact: Develops advanced technological ideas and guides their development into a final product. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve critical organizational objectives and affect image of organization's technological capability.
