Currently, we are seeking a skillful and cutting-edge Network Engineer with Firewall Experience in Washington, DC. The successful candidate must have a government security clearance, per contract requirements. 

Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Designs and plans network systems.
  • Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
  • Provides specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
  • Conducts testing of network systems.
  • Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switchers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
  • Evaluates and provides reporting on new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.

Qualifications (Required) 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent plus five (5) years related experience or Master’s Degree plus three years related experience;
  • DOD 8570.01 IAT Level II or higher
  • Clearance is required prior to candidate starting

Qualifications (Desired)

  • Detailed knowledge of Cisco and Juniper firewalls highly desired.
  • Experience in network engineering, O&M support, requirements analysis, product integration, network database baseline, and progress tracking.
  • Demonstrated experience in network engineering, planning, designing, provisioning, installation, operation, and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience with switches, routers, and firewall devices – such as Juniper firewalls
  • Demonstrated experience with mobility controllers such as Aruba
  • Experience with Samsung handheld devices preferred
  • Proficiency in PowerShell or other shell scripting tools.
  • Ability to assess current and future needs and priorities.
  • Experience as a primary contributor to a network engineering team providing network design, build, test, and implementation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and team skills.
  • Ability to understand the needs of internal clients and translate their input into requirements.
