At GDIT, we foster a people-centric environment. As a Computer Engineer supporting the Operational Technology Division, you will be trusted to work on Windows-based IT systems and technologies in a production environment and design and implement systems to support mission operations.  In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Collaborating with the Operational Technology Division to plan, lead and, if necessary, conduct site- surveys and produce a complete delineation of products and services, support equipment, computer, and electronic equipment installations required for the site. 
  • Primary responsibilities
    • Plan, direct, and, if necessary, conduct regular, special, and integrated system test programs
    • Prepare and conduct special reports and presentations for site operations
    • Conduct integrated equipment system testing
    • Plan, prepare and conduct on the job training to FBI and junior Contractor personnel, as required
    • Coordinate with other field engineers to the benefit of the FBI
    • Support the unit with other duties as assigned


  • Four (4) year college degree in computer engineering
  • Five (5) years of experience designing and implementing IT systems in a production environment or, in lieu of education, ten (10) years of experience
  • Experience in the following
    • System design, development, integration, prototyping, and troubleshooting in support of nation-wide distributed environment
    • Evaluating new hardware and software solutions, making recommendations and developing novel solutions for challenging operational networks problems
    • Working technical personnel to resolve technical challenges and support systems
    • Assisting, troubleshooting, and diagnosing users’ various IT functional related problems
    • Evaluating, prototyping, proof of concept integration, performing testing and performance validation, and documenting findings for operational environment suitability
    • Developing and demonstrating high-level strategies to introduce updated hardware and software into production environments
    • Reviewing commonly failing instruments, determining whether the internal components are accessible, commercially available, and replaceable, and making fiscally responsible recommendations to management for course of action
  • Top Secret Clearance
  • Must be eligible for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Access
  • Preferred qualifications
    • Mastery use of program languages, including Powershell, Python, C, and Visual Studio C#
    • Microsoft (current Version) Storage Spaces Direct (S2D)
    • Microsoft (current Version) Failover Clustering
    • Microsoft’s System Center monitoring components/methods
    • Mass storage arrays and servers
    • Dell OpenManage essentials
    • Windows Server Update Services
    • Containers
    • Group Policy Management
    • SQL Server
    • Azure Stack
