Position DescriptionGDIT’s Science & Engineering group has an immediate position for a qualified candidate to provide scientific and technical support to environmental monitoring projects and special studies for the EPA’s Great Lakes National Program Office (GLNPO).Responsibilities
  • Provide technical, data management, data quality assessment, and quality assurance expertise support to environmental monitoring and remediation projects
  • Assist with planning, implementing, documenting, and reporting on environmental monitoring
  • Assist in tracking the status of quality documents, reporting weekly on the status, and interfacing with the client
  • Assist in coordinating, developing, and managing meetings, workshops, and other events online and in-person
  • Conduct data checks and assessments, investigate discrepancies and issues, communicate findings
  • Conduct data analysis and interpretation to determine and report on status and trends
  • Write and review technical reports, quality assurance project plans, sampling designs, and standard operating procedures
  • Develop and review technical and quality documentation including technical reports, quality assurance project plans, sampling designs, and standard operating procedures.
  • Interface with environmental scientists, IT staff and other technical personnel to develop tools and applications to support environmental monitoring data collection, assessment, analysis and reporting
Qualifications (Required Experience and Skills)
  • Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years professional experience or Master’s degree and professional experience related to Environmental Science (Chemistry, Ecology, Biology, Natural Resources, or related fields)
  • Experience in environmental monitoring and assessment, field data collection, and laboratory analyses
  • Familiarity with project assurance project plans and EPA’s Quality Program
  • Effective communication skills to interact with team members
  • Ability to track details and update/maintain online systems
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and creative thinking skills
  • Excellent technical writing capabilities
  • Strong presentation skills to present to individuals and groups
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and switch between tasks quickly
  • Willingness to travel (less than 5% of the time)
