Job Description

GDIT is currently seeking a ServiceNow Developer in Bethesda, Maryland to support our ServiceNow team.  We are looking for a professional with a successful recent track record in developing ServiceNow applications. 

In this role, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team of software developers and other IT professionals to support, maintain, and enhance the ServiceNow ITSM application in support of the NIH mission. You will join a highly collaborative team focused on delivering high value to its customers. You will work in close cooperation with other developers, managers and product owners on project teams, as well as work independently on smaller efforts with limited direct supervision.

This role is currently remote, but expected to go back onsite in Bethesda, MD at some point in the future.

Task and responsibilities in this role include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop, maintain and enhance applications on the ServiceNow ITSM platform
  • Implement configuration/customization of the ServiceNow application and facilitate the rollout of new modules and configure Application UI and workflow.
  • Support the team in ServiceNow operations like User/ Group administration, reporting, Metrics, SLAs, etc.
  • Collaborates effectively with ServiceNow users and Stakeholders to develop solutions and execute changes.
  • Maintain the procedures document to identify improvements of the processes, standards, policies, working methods, and tools and ensure that the tool configuration consistency across development, testing and production environments.
  • Prepare and maintain up to date documentation for internal and external customers.
  • Be available for on-call rotation to support any production issues impacting ServiceNow or its related systems within the enterprise supported by the team.
  • Provide off-hours coverage and support for maintenance during outage windows.
  • Perform unit testing and assist with quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to create sound automation solutions. Troubleshoot automation issues and find practical solutions to address barriers, enabling forward movement in the application lifecycle.
  • Support and enhance reporting solutions both within ServiceNow and through external reporting solutions to support the customer's requirements.
  • Contribute to the team’s efforts to consistently meet the KPIs and goals set by the customer
  • Communicate with the customer in non-technical terms, understand their business requirements, and provide suitable solutions.
  • Work on continuous improvement by sharing experiences and knowledge within the team
  • Provide quality and consistent service to the customer.

Required Skills:

  • BS in Computer Science or Information Systems related discipline and minimum of five years related experience or the equivalent experience/education
  • Five years supporting IT systems
  • Java/JavaScript development experience
  • Experience in developing scripts
  • Report creation in multiple environments, including maintenance and automation
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust

Desired Skills:

  • Prior experience implementing and deploying the core suite of ITSM applications (Incident, Problem, Change, Domain Separation)
  • Prior experience developing solutions across the ServiceNow platform that leverage the automation and integration capabilities of ServiceNow.
  • Any ServiceNow certifications is a plus
  • ITIL Foundations
  • Effective communication skills
  • Collaborating and communicating effectively with multiple teams and customers.
  • Good organizational and analytical skills
