Overview:

GDIT has an opportunity for a dynamic and collaborative leader to join our team supporting a Federal customer in developing new, and maintaining existing, software systems in an agile environment.  The position is located in Washington, DC. GDIT provides full software development lifecycle as well as operations & maintenance expertise for a variety of applications supporting a complex case management process that supports many thousands of users in a highly visible public-facing set of applications. Our services include program and project management, scrum master support, business requirements analysis, solutions architecture, software engineering, release management, application support, security management, testing services, configuration management, change management, and COTS/GOTS support and the development of new solutions as needed. As part of the program, GDIT supports the agency in all its Scaled Agile Framework® (SAFe®) and Development/Security/Operations (DevSecOps) methodologies, practices, and processes. Join our team!

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing operation and maintenance manuals and technical publications.
  • Gathering technical information, preparing written text basic projects, and helping coordinate layout and manual organization.
  • Researching available development/engineering information such as drawings, design reports, equipment, and test specifications.
  • Writing, editing, and proofreading materials for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instructional material, catalogs, technical publications, and software and hardware documentation provided by technical personnel.
  • Arranging for word processing, duplication, and distribution of material.
     

Technical and Creative

  • Advanced experience specifically writing content for online help documentation, instruction materials, and user guides and manuals.
  • Advanced technical proficiency, and practical knowledge and application of Adobe RoboHelp functions and features.
  • Experience developing and implementing content using responsive design principles and technological practices.
  • Technical proficiency, and practical knowledge in the use and application of the latest versions of JavaScript.
  • Technical proficiency, and practical knowledge in the use and application of HTML5.
  • Technical proficiency, and practical knowledge in the use and application cascading style sheets (CSS).
  • Experience with RoboHelp and Confluence tools.
  • Ability to quickly ascertain and understand complex applications, diagrams, user requirements, and designs with minimal assistance.

Communication and Organizational

  • Working in an Agile IT organization and/or Agile environment.
  • Requirements gathering and management including written and oral communication, and client engagement.
  • Must have exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated self-motivation with the ability to independently manage, prioritize multiple tasks, and identify and recommend areas for improvement.
  • Collaborating, building coalitions, and working effectively in a team environment as a facilitator and team member. 

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience working in and Agile Scrum environment writing technical documentation for the software product, application, and product releases.
  • Experience in understanding and communicating all technical aspects of a software product to both highly technical and non-technical users.
  • Experience in developing technical documentation and education materials to support user experience (user guides, integration guides, installation/configuration instructions, developer guides).
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, or equivalent.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $80,226 - $133,973, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
