For the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), GDIT provides enterprise IT services for DHS’s biometric identity management system (IDENT) and the Office of Biometric Identity Management (OBIM) to store, match, share, and analyze biometric and biographic data in support of DHS’s strategic mission. GDIT’s O&M services support break-fix of current OBIM functional capabilities, as well as security remediation activities and developmental engineering (such as prototyping new code or configurations of OBIM functionality). GDIT is looking for an Operations Architecture Tools Systems Engineer Manager to serve as a Functional and Technical lead for systems administration and configuration support for a wide range of tools. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading the support of IT management, analysis of functional business requirements and design specifications for functional activities, request management, demand management, application problem analysis and resolution, data validation, application and/or data migration, and test management technologies. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to installing, configuring, securing, deploying, integrating, administering, maintaining, enhancing, patching, tuning, and upgrading tools, including MicroSoft SharePoint/Project, Informatica, and Birst applications residing on Linux and Windows Server operating systems. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manages life-cycle support engineering activities for the Operations Architecture tools, including systems integration/deployment, configuration, administration, maintenance, security/patching, tuning, and upgrades
  • Works with the client to understand their requirements and evaluate possible technical solutions
  • Documents Application Management Practices (SOPs, application data sheets, system configurations & dependencies, operational checklists, roadmaps, etc.)
  • Reports service status, issues, and recommendations to leadership
  • Produces Government required documentation (status reports, quad charts, etc.)
  • Attends Government meetings and leads team discussions
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, resolution skills
  • Demonstrates experience working in collaborative, fast-paced environments
  • Serves as a strong proponent of excellence in customer service
  • Ensures consistent use of processes and best practices
  • Ability to support non-traditional working hours (including after-hours or weekends) when necessary

Required Skills / Qualifications:

  • U.S. citizenship
  • DHS HQ EOD required to start; must be able to obtain DHS Final Suitability
  • Bachelors degree and 5+ yrs related experience
  • Professional experience in IT systems engineering, systems administration, systems/applications analysis, web applications, configuration management, and/or project management
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with leadership, partners, peers, employees, and customers
  • Application migration experience

Desired Skills / Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in computer engineering, systems engineering, computer science, information systems, or related field of study
  • 15+ yrs experience in tools or applications administration or configuration management      
  • Informatica experience and knowledge
  • AWS Console – S3 and Redshift knowledge
  • Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) knowledge
  • SWORD Active Risk Manager (ARM) maintenance and knowledge
  • Microsoft Project Server and SharePoint knowledge
  • Knowledge of Application Management Best Practices
  • Working knowledge of application and system security, web technologies, networking, and databases
  • Adaptable to changing priorities and new applications, and possesses a willingness and the initiative to learn
  • Certification: ITIL Foundations (v3 or better); Amazon Web Services (AWS)
