The Network Engineer will provide technical support to include Project skills, Operations and Maintenance, Administration, and implementation skills for the Network Management, Systems Management, and Network Access Control tools that make up the EMS Tool Suite.
The Network Engineer will have experience providing daily administrative tasks and maintenance of the EMS Tool Suite listed below.
Administration of the EMS tools includes but is not limited to:
Monitoring health, availability and performance of managed nodes and devices
Performing day-to-day processes and activities to manage and maintain availability, health and performance at acceptable Service Levels
Configuring and instrumenting tool capabilities according to user needs and requirements
Create customized monitoring solutions as needed
Initiate data collection on managed nodes and devices
Configure and generate Availability and Performance reports
Create specialized reports upon request
Installing, configuring, testing and deploying EMS tools as needed
Create “As-Built” documents and other supporting documentation for installs, and all other administrative tasks
Training IT staff and end users to use the tools as needed
Knowledge transfer and exchange to other EMS team members
Leveraging automation (e.g., tools, programs or scripts) and standards as part of the daily administration of the EMS tools
Operations and Maintenance (O&M):
The Network Engineer will have experience providing operational “care and feeding” and maintenance of the EMS tools.
Additionally, O&M support will be provided on an occasional basis outside these hours, either arranged in advance or in support of critical incidents.
Support includes, but is not limited to these activities:
Perform routine maintenance including but not limited to patching of operating system and applications
Troubleshooting and problem resolution of EMS tool incidents, issues and problems
Recommending and carrying out projects under the guidance of the technical or government lead or architect to improve tool performance, to bring devices, systems, applications and services under management
Perform EMS tool software upgrades as needed
Create “As-Built” documents and other supporting documentation for upgrades, and all other operational & maintenance tasks
Prepare and support EMS servers during Data Center move initiatives
Coordinate with other teams both within and external to the IT Enterprise Services Division as required
Improve processes and procedures. Configuration and change activities are also included in this activity.
Skills/Experience: The Sr. Network Engineer must have knowledge in one or more of the following tool areas:
(Required) Experience with EMS Tools including but not limited to:
Network Management tools such as:
NNMi and/or NA
(Preferred) Systems Management tools such as:
Network Access Control tools such as: [a plus but not required]
Cisco Secure Access Control Server (ACS)
Cisco ® Identity Services Engine (ISE)
(Required) Experience with Cloud computing including but not limited to:
Personal Cloud Storage
Trusted End Node Security (TENS™) [a plus but not required]
Experience with any of these Critical Applications [a plus but not required:]
Experience with virtual environments such as: [a plus but not required]
Virtual Private Network (VPN)
(Preferred) Experience with OS Platforms including but not limited to:
Windows 10 Enterprise
Windows 2016 and later
RHEL v7.4 OS and later
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
Must have 10+ years of directly related experience in network and/or systems management & analysis and administration of EMS Tools
Vendor & Industry recognized certifications preferred
