General Dynamics Information Technology is actively seeking a MK 160/CIWS BLK 1B / Surface Warfare Specialist Trainer and Subject Matter Expert (SME) having recent operational Navy Surface and Combat Systems/Weapons Fleet experience.  Highly desired experience with Navy systems such as MK 160 Gun Fire Control Systems(GFCS) and Close in Weapon System 1B (CIWS).

You would serve as a Senior Instructor to train sailors in tactical employment of the MK 160 and CIWS 1B Warfare systems; system capabilities and limitations; employment of automated systems; mission planning and execution; and tactical communications.  When required, you would provide subject matter expertise in support of curriculum development. 

The Trainer develops; organizes; and conducts Surface Warfare training and educational programs for personnel assigned to US Navy Ships.  Must be capable of conducting conventional knowledge-based classroom teaching and performance/scenario-based laboratory training.

You must be prepared to support training and evaluation utilizing shore-based trainer requiring dynamic assessment of students in individual and team-training events:

  • Experience with Surface Warfare (SUW) missions, processes, procedures and related technologies.
  • Prepares; reviews; and customizes curriculum lesson plans and instructor guides in support of traditional classroom teaching.
  • Supports Formal Course Reviews and curriculum updates; conducts training Gap Analysis and provides formal feedback / recommendations for course improvement.
  • Develops; tests; maintains; and delivers moderately complex Navy Surface Warfare (SUW) Warfare training programs and related materials

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • 2+ years of experience with MK160 GFCS 
  • CSTT member or instructor Training
  • MTS and or ATS is a plus/not required.
  • Secret clearance
