Our work depends on an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) joining our team to support a large infrastructure support effort at Annapolis Junction, MD.

At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As an ISSE supporting our government client. In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Conduct technical evaluation of information system design, focusing on information security aspects and accreditation

  • Utilize various information system inspection tools to audit systems, analyze potential vulnerabilities and identify mitigation approaches to support

  • Perform vulnerability/risk assessment analysis to support accreditation and other program protection activities

  • Prepare and review program documentation to include Risk Assessment Reports, Accreditation Packages, and security policy guides

  • Coordinate with external organizations and guide accreditation packages through the customer process

  • Review requests for software installation and conduct technical risk assessment on implementation of the software

  • Work closely with system administrators to validate patching, AV definitions and other security tools are updated/not vulnerable

  • Coordinate and track security action requests and status

  • Assist contractors with system designs to incorporate appropriate security features, conduct pre- accreditation inspections, and provide assistance in preparation of accreditation documents

  • Conduct periodic assessments of contractor facilities to ensure compliance with security requirements tailoring requirements as needed

  • Assist customer staff with resolving any operational security issues involving supporting contractors

  • Maintain operational security posture for the program

  • Conduct weekly auditing requirements and analyze results


  • Current TS/SCI with Polygraph

  • BA/BS or equivalent + 2 years of related experience

  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification or higher required

  • On call required for 24x7 support - Essential personnel

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Leadership skills to guide and mentor less experienced personnel

  • Strong communications skills

  • Ability to lead and work as part of a team

CWIP - IAT level II Compliance:

Persons provide network environment (NE) and advance level compute environment (CE) support. Responsible for finding and fixing unprotected vulnerabilities and ensuring that remote access points are well secured. Focuses on threats and vulnerabilities and improving the security of systems. Demonstrates a mastery of the functions of the IAT Level I position. Monitors, tests and troubleshoots hardware and software IA problems pertaining to the network environment. Recommends and schedules IA related repairs to include performing IA related customer support functions such as installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance, in response to customer requirements for the network environment (NE). Analyzes patterns of non-compliance and identifies vulnerabilities resulting from a departure from the implementation plan or that were not apparent during testing. Provides leadership and direction to IA operations personnel. Implement applicable patches including IAVAs, and IAVBs for their environment.  (Reference: Policy 6-34) for Cyber Workforce Improvement Plan (CWIP).
