General Dynamics IT (GDIT) is looking for its next passionate, highly skilled, self-motivated, experienced Middleware System Administrator (JBoss) to join our team as we continue to partner with New York State of Health (NYSoH) to provide comprehensive health coverage to more than 4.5 million New Yorkers.
Our GDIT State & Local LLC team provides NYS with a health insurance benefits exchange platform for comparison health insurance shopping. In addition to being the comparative market place, the exchange is the place to obtain subsidies and other cost sharing reductions. The exchange with innovative and agile health benefit exchange (HBE) solutions that provides the technology to deliver the functionality required to comply by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Since go-live in 2013, the platform has been able to scale, undergoing changes/upgrades to support business and regulatory change, including most recently the American Rescue Plan.
Here's where you come in:
Responsible for middleware installation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and identifying performance improvements.
Administers a wide variety of middleware components in a 24/7/365 high availability client environment. Primary responsibility is Production support to include monitoring, troubleshooting, and triage.
Installs, configures, and maintains the JBoss middleware infrastructure supporting a high-volume mission critical Healthcare system with stringent security and performance requirements
Ensures installation, configurations, and maintenance procedures of all changes to middleware infrastructure are of highest quality and capable of meeting all client SLAs.
Installs upgrades and patches associated with JBoss and related middleware products.
Packages, deploys applications, migrates, performance tunes, troubleshoots and resolves application services, maintains security, and automates routine procedures through scripting.
Essential Job Functions:
Work constructively with other team members
Performs complex systems administration. Monitors and tunes appropriate systems to ensure optimum level of performance.
Oversees appropriate level software installations and upgrades and related software packages.
Collects and reviews system data for capacity and planning purposes.
Analyzes capacity data and develops capacity plans for appropriate level enterprise-wide systems.
Oversees and applies appropriate support packages/patches to maintain system integrity.
Develops and maintains appropriate system documentation
Experience in the JBoss family of middleware infrastructure
Experience in developing appropriate monitoring and alerting processes within the mid-tier environment
Experience developing custom operation scripts for day-to-day JBoss operations
Experience configuring/supporting Mulesoft, Opentext, SPLUNK, Jaeger framework nice to have
Experience in administering the WAS family of middleware infrastructure (WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere Portal Server, WebSphere Process Server, WebSphere MQ) nice to have
Self starter, takes initiative to uncover and resolve issues in order to promote a culture of continuous improvement
Able and willing to participate in 7x24 on call support as required
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to interact with team and client staff and remain calm under pressure
Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field preferred
8 or more years of experience in working on middleware support teams in high-volume a mission critical environment
5+ years’ experience in JBOSS Middleware System’s Administration role
The likely salary range for this position is $88,000 - $132,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
