At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Systems Engineer—Senior Level supporting the customer, you will be trusted to work in a Research and Development environment developing mission centric code. In this role, a typical day will include:
Candidate will work in a collaborative team environment
System Engineering for high performance
Agile development methodologies
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
Minimum of 8+ years related experience.
Operating Systems: Hands-on experience designing and writing scripts (i.e.PowerShell, Bash) for the automation of installations, deployments and configuration. Engineering and/or enterprise configuration of UNIX and Linux (i.e.) RHEL, CentOs) systems including administration, management and troubleshooting.
Networking—Understanding of TCP/IP, basic routing, security zones, controlled interfaces, installation and/or configuration of routers/switches, and experience designing multi-tier networks.
Application Integration—Experience in the design and integration of multiple COTS/GOTS (front end and back end such as Elastisearch, Lucene or similar technology).
Storage—Understanding of basic storage principles and including types of storage, RAID types, network storage types and best practices of when to use each type.
Data Processing—Experience with data lifecycle management and data processing, such as NiFi and MySql database structures.
Virtualization/Cloud—Experience in developing/implementing virtualization systems and the automatic provisioning of components. Ability to draft project briefings, conceptual whitepapers, program planning and other foundation documents. Understanding of all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle, System Engineering Lifecycle and the ability to comprehend user business needs and concerns and integrate that understanding with technical skills.
Executes code deployment/ migration and system configuration across multiple environments to Linux and Windows servers.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Java and Middleware environments.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with all of the following infrastructure principles: Fault tolerance, High Availability, Scalability, Service Level Agreements (SLA’s), Capacity Planning, Data center organization, Backup/Recovery, Active Directory, Encryption, IDS/IPS, Firewalls, VPN’s SSL.
Ability to resolve complex hardware/software compatibility and interface design considerations.
Ability to work technical and non-technical discussions among people with differing backgrounds and opinions and lead to consensus. Multithreaded development, JIRA
Languages: C/C++, Java, Python, VHDL
Security Clearance Level: Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph
Desired Skills: Experience with Java and Java Script Software Development. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with Certificate generation and PKI. AWS Experience. Working knowledge of CDHS, Postgres, NiFI and experience with Jenkins, Chef and other automated deployment tools. Experience with Enterprise monitoring tools (i.e. Splunk and Nagios). Knowledge of enterprise monitoring and logging solutions. Provide ad-hoc data mining and reporting as requested for historical performance, log, and other metric data. Knowledge of Big Data tools including Hadoop, Solr, Blur, etc.

May coach and review the work of less-experienced professionals.
May serve as a team or task leader. (Not a people manager)
