GDIT is seeking a Windows Automation Engineer to help provide support on our Cloud Support contract. This position is 100% remote.
The Windows Automation Engineer will maintain the organization's computer systems' workflows and is responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, including fixing network issues along with updating equipment and software. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Develops technical solutions for the management of networks, software, hardware, configurations, and architectures
Troubleshoots complex system hardware and software issues
Trains end users on the proper use of hardware and software
Performs advanced software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages
Monitors and tunes systems to achieve optimum performance levels
Ensures workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutions
Leads efforts to ensure data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups and database archive operations
Conducts advanced hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines
Ensures that performance and security of computers meet the needs of network users
Evaluates existing systems and plans long-term strategies
May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals
May serve as a team or task lead
Required Qualifications:
Active Top Secret security clearance and the ability to be upgraded to TS/SCI
BA/BS Degree or equivalent experience in lieu of degree
8+ years of experience
Experience automating the deployment and configuration of Windows applications in an Active Directory environment.
Experience with PowerShell scripting
Experience in creating PowerShell scripts to do unattended installations.
Experience in modifying existing PowerShell scripts to meet customer use
Ability to create a PowerShell scripts from scratch
Ability to use PowerShell to configure software with file-based configurations and/or REST calls.
Experience working with GIT; including creating and merging PRs.
Experience/familiarity with Microsoft Desired State Configuration (DSC) modules
Desired Qualifications:
Active TS/SCI security clearance
Experience with Ansible
