At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Database Administrator supporting the customer, you will be trusted to monitor database performance daily. A typical day will include:

  • Participating in daily scrums
  • Finding and debugging malfunctioning programs/code affecting the database integrity


  • Installing and maintaining Oracle database software
  • Configure Oracle Cluster and Database (11g, 19c)
  • Configuring Oracle security hardening
  • Regularly updating database security protocols
  • Experience in database reverse engineering
  • Configuring database backups and recovery
  • Monitor database performance daily
  • Well versed in Linux scripting
  • Ensure availability and maximum performance of several databases
  • In depth knowledge of pl/SQL
  • Experienced in Oracle RAC
  • Experienced in configuring Oracle Data Guard on RAC
  • RMAN backup and recovery configuration - ability to implement a robust backup and recovery procedures.
  • Database Schema Creation/Management - ability to translate a data model or logical database design into actual physical database.
  • Data modeling and Database design - ability to create an efficient physical database design from a logical data model and application specifications.
  • Metadata Management - ability to query the organization's metadata.
  • Performance Management and Tuning - ability to proactively monitor the database environment to make changes for application logic.
  • SQL Code Reviews/walk thru - possess in-depth knowledge of SQL. Must be able to review SQL to recommend changes for optimization.
  • Data Security - ensure authorized users have access to data.
  • Experience in RAC environment/single instances - ability to manage multiple styles of Oracle databases.
  • Cognos reporting experience a plus


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team
  • Minimum of 15 years related experience
  • Security Clearance Level: Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph
