Job Description

The successful candidate will be welding/fitting in accordance with GMAW, SMAW, and CUNI TIG welding procedures needed to repair, modify, and install various structures, foundations and piping systems associated with Shipboard Systems Installations.
Must be able to transport welding machine and leads to various locations on board ship.
The candidate must be able to perform with little or no supervision.

Candidate must be able to provide current certifications or be familiar with and/or able to certify to NAVSEA/ABS welding requirements and MILSTD 1689A and 248.
The applicant shall be certified for all of the following welding processes: (a) Shielded Metal Arc Welding; (b) Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG).

Requirements should include, but are not limited to the following: At least one (1) year of the applicant's experience shall be recent experience (within the last 4 years) shipboard, in shipyard, or other industrial environment. Experience should be specific to the applicant's specialty and encompass equipment preparation and review
The applicant shall have served an apprenticeship as a welder or the equivalent and must be a journeyman welder with at least two years experience in the welding of some of the following materials on ships: (a) HY80/100; (b) Aluminum Alloys 5086, 5456; (c) Carbon Steel.
Must have an in-depth knowledge of blueprint and standard shipboard installation drawings and associated fitting and fabrication skills.

Requires a High School Diploma or GED.

Must be US Citizen.

Applicant needs to be able to obtain DBIDS and access to various shipyards and bases.
