GDIT is currently seeking a Team Lead Network Engineer in Rockville, Md. to join our team, who is innovative, visionary, dedicated, and highly-motivated in order to solve challenging problems for our client, a large scientific and medical research agency.   You will lead a team of network engineers, while serving as the voice of the Network engineering program at the agency, with responsibility for guiding and transforming the network and priorities of the organization.

Task and responsibilities in this role include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide technical direction in all aspects of network management from network design through implementation, maintenance and upgrading of existing networks
  • Capacity and performance planning, overseeing software upgrades on production platforms, data-center build-outs, and change management.
  • Manage routine changes, provision services, deployments, fault isolation, service recovery, and incident analysis.
  • Review network characteristics and recommend procurement of, and/or modifications to network components
  • To qualify, you must meet these basic qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree or work experience equivalent with 10 years total information technology experience which may include Systems Administration, Network Administration, Systems Engineering, or Network Engineering including:

  • Minimum of 5+ years working as a network engineer.

  • Experience leading and/or managing a team
  • Thorough understanding of: Cisco Routing: ISR routers, OSPF, EIGRP & BGP routing protocols
  • Cisco Enterprise Campus and Data Center Switching: Catalyst Switch platforms and Nexus 9K/7K/5K/FEX
  • Ability to manage and oversee design and support WAN & LAN connectivity to multiple data centers and campuses
  • Proven documentation skills: implementation plans, design justifications and Visio network diagrams
  • Experience leading extensive troubleshooting and resolving complex network issues
  • Preferred Skills:
  • Cisco CCIE or CCNP Juniper JNCIA, JNCIS or JNCIE
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
