GDIT is seeking a Unified Communications Systems Engineer with experience using Microsoft Skype for Business and Polycom VTC to join our team in support of the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), a leading federal healthcare organization focused on scientific research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic and allergic diseases. In this role, you will work with the Unified Communications engineering team to support Microsoft Skype for Business Server, Polycom phones, Polycom VTC core infrastructure and codes, implementation and operations for 5 sites and over 4,000 users at NIAID.

Position is for full time employment and will be based at our client's office in Rockville, MD off Fishers Lane (metro accessible and parking available; part time teleworking is allowed with manager approval). After hours work may occasionally be required for pre-planned maintenance or troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities include:


• Participate in or lead technical sessions with clients to discover requirements and develop communications solutions
• Prepare project proposals and present solutions to clients
• Participate as a “hands-on” engineer on project deployments
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies to be used
• Write scripts using Powershell to manage UC systems through automated processes
• Manage UC systems via consoles and command line interfaces
• Interface with other agency staff on related systems, such as Exchange Unified Messaging and conference room systems
• Troubleshooting issues that arise when operating UC systems
• Participate in decisions to add or remove features and manage updates with UC systems
• Update phone hardware and manage public switch telephone network (PSTN) gateways as needed
• Document processes and share technical information with other teams to support user education and resources.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and five years systems administrator experience or a MS and three years related experience
• Hands on experience planning, designing, implementing and managing Microsoft’s Skype for Business Server product line, including Instant Messaging, Presence, Video, Enterprise Voice, conferencing, and other modalities.
• Experience with related technologies, including Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Unified Messaging, and DNS.
• Experience with related vendor technologies, such as Session Border Controllers and Survivable Branch Appliances, including AudioCodes
