Own your opportunity to work with the largest government agency in the nation. Make an impact by advancing the Department of Defense’s mission to keep our country safe and secure.
Transform technology into opportunity as a Systems Specialist with GDIT. A career in enterprise IT means connecting and enhancing the systems that matter most. At GDIT you’ll be at the forefront of innovation and play a meaningful part in improving how agencies operate.
At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Systems Specialist you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. Our work depends on Systems Specialist joining our team an Aircraft Survivability Equipment Liaison Officer (ASE LNO).
The LNO performs critical support and oversight functions related to Aircraft Survivability Equipment (ASE) which is installed on every US Army rotary-wing and fixed-wing aircraft in Kuwait and Iraq. ASE protects US aircrew and aircraft from catastrophic man-portable missile attacks, a vulnerability during all flight operations, in all theaters of operation.
HOW A SYSTEMS SPECIALIST WILL MAKE AN IMPACT ● Supports the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems.
Oversight – The LNO is the single PM ASE representative among two active theaters of operation, responsible for all inherently governmental functions. In the unfortunate event of a “Fallen Angel”, the LNO has the critical task of recovering and protecting a classified component of the Common Missile Warning System, in addition to obtaining the classified incident report on behalf of PM-ASE. Specific duties include:
● Monitor status of theater ASE equipment and engage with units and PM-ASE Office on issues affecting system readiness/availability and/or logistical support of the system.
● Monitor status, usage, level of fill, replenishment, accountability, and overall management of Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) (e.g., equipment, spares, etc.). Cross level assets throughout theater of operations to maximize unit readiness and optimize maintenance operations.
● Provide recommendations and execute actions to maintain/improve readiness/availability.
● Coordinate and support/provide oversight of implementation of modifications, materiel fielding's, in-field integration of new equipment, etc. Keep the PM-ASE updated of status, activities, and movement of equipment between operational locations.
● Participate in weekly teleconferences and monthly theater video teleconferences (VTC).
● Provide weekly information/updates of activities and status regarding the ER/MP UAS.
● Manage sustainment, storage, and transportation support in-theater, intra-theater, and to/from CONUS.
Direct Unit Support – The LNO is a technical subject matter expert, qualified to train aircrews and maintainers on the theory of operation for each system. He/she assists the units’ Aviation Mission Survivability Officer with the task of properly loading classified data onto the User Data Module – a function that is vital to proper CMWS operation.
Liaison/Coordination: The LNO ensures the timely and accurate exchange of critical information between numerous organizations to include using units. Often, the nature of information received or reported has the potential to impact unit readiness. He/she uses the following forums to facilitate continuous communication:
The LNO provides support to the PEO IEW&S FWD operating office for theater operations as needed. As the representative for PMO ASE, he/she is the single point of communication for ongoing changes and updates for theater-related issues. The information the LNO provides covers theater operations for Kuwait and OIR regarding the status of ASE systems and personnel supporting both locations.
